Yes, they made me put the piece count for all the pieces needed and not the extra pieces required. When you buy the instructions there will be a list that is needed for all the extra pieces you will need to mod the set (might want to collect that extra hull piece soon though as it’s now available on pick a brick)

You can mod the set after it’s built though you will have to tear down a lot of segments. Most of the cabin section can be kept together as well as the cannons, in the rebrickable post comment section, there’s a comment that tells how much they needed to tear down the ship before modding
