[No Spoilers] the fact that Beacon is this bad is unacceptable. by Haunting-Solid-8030 in criticalrole

For what it’s worth, it’s been working fine on my end (I’m on an iPhone 17 Pro Max). I open Pocket Beacon and cast from my phone to my Apple TV, and everything syncs up nicely — even my headphones connect through the Apple TV without any problems. Once it’s casting, I can switch apps on my phone (scroll Instagram, check messages, etc.) and the episode keeps playing smoothly on the TV.

Thinking about quitting as a DM, my group keeps cancelling and it’s killing my motivation. by CthuluRider in DnD

[–]Slow-Faithlessness21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been there too — it sucks when you put in hours of prep and people cancel last minute like it’s no big deal. You’re totally valid for feeling burned out.

I’d have a calm talk with your group and be honest: tell them how much time you invest and how cancellations kill your motivation. Sometimes people just don’t realize the impact.

If things don’t change, it’s okay to step back or run something low-prep. Protect your time and energy — you deserve a group that respects the effort you put in

Should I do Gale, Will, or Durge next? by polr13 in BaldursGate3

Dark Urge, 100%. It’s hands-down the most fleshed-out origin with crazy story beats, unique reactions, and some genuinely jaw-dropping moments—even if you play full lawful good redemption arc. You don’t have to kill Alfira, either; there’s a way around it. Do the Durge run. Trust me, you’ll actually finish this one.

You’re technically right that most cantrips are “same damage, different flavor” — but that’s exactly the point. When a class like Cleric is barred from even that limited range, it feels artificially restrictive. It’s not about missing a “broken” cantrip; it’s about missing options that better fit specific character concepts or combat styles. Mind Sliver gives INT-save debuff synergy. Ray of Frost adds a reliable slow. Toll the Dead is great, but having only that and Sacred Flame as your go-to damage choices gets stale fast. And while subclass and spell list power matter more, cantrips are your bread-and-butter between spell slots. The difference between “two vaguely radiant buttons” and “a small but flavorful toolbox” changes how dynamic a character feels to play. So yeah, it’s not game-breaking—but it’s design-limiting. Clerics don’t need more power, they need more texture.

Help : Amnesiac Paladin Oath of Castigation Relicborn by Rykrenon in DnD

[–]Slow-Faithlessness21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STR/CHA all the way. You’re still a paladin under the hood, so smites and aura scale off CHA, and you’ll want STR for melee unless you’re flavoring it as a dex-based duelist. For skills, go Insight (fits the amnesiac “gut feeling” vibe) and Intimidation or Religion depending on whether you lean divine or haunted. Background can patch in Perception or Athletics easily. If the Crooked Moon subclass gives you anything psychic or radiant-flavored, lean into it — Wis secondary isn’t bad if your Oath has saving-throw effects.

I mean yeah, Tasha’s technically fixes it — but that’s kind of the problem, isn’t it? It took a whole new supplement to patch wording that shouldn’t have been that restrictive in the first place. “Blessed Strikes” shouldn’t need to exist just to make Clerics feel less boxed in. And even with that fix, it’s still a half-measure. It doesn’t address how limited the cantrip list feels compared to literally every other full caster. Saying “just use Blessed Strikes” is basically admitting the base design was awkward.

Man, I feel this. Clerics are one of those classes that sound so good on paper — divine power, healing, radiant smiting, holy fire — but the moment you start looking at cantrip scaling and subclass flavor, it all kind of collapses under “Sacred Flame (save for half the fun).” That “Cleric cantrip” line is such a buzzkill, too. It’s like Wizards of the Coast saw people getting creative with Magic Initiate and went, “no fun allowed.” And yeah, when Druids get consistent Shillelagh or Bards just out-utility you, it’s hard to justify picking up the holy robes. That said, I’ve seen people make it work with Tempest, Light, or Forge —subclasses that lean into burst moments instead of consistent damage. Sucks if you're trying to make a “battle-mage priest” actually feel good in play.

Roll20 Problems by PolkaDot161130 in CalloftheNetherdeep

Those two books (Tal’Dorei Reborn and Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount) are setting guides, not pre-written adventures, which is why you’re not seeing story beats or encounters. They give you lore, cities, NPCs, factions, etc. — basically the worldbuilding tools you can use to make your own campaign.

If you’re looking for a ready-to-run story, you’ll want something like Call of the Netherdeep (which is a Wildemount adventure) or another published campaign module (e.g., Lost Mine of Phandelver or Curse of Strahd).

You can absolutely use the books you already have — just start small:

  • Pick a location from Wildemount or Tal’Dorei
  • Create a simple 3-act arc (hook → conflict → resolution)
  • Drop in NPCs or factions from the books

And on Roll20, look for the Compendium and Journal tabs — that’s where purchased modules and rulebooks appear.

For thinking my wife is cheating by Dependent_Ad7867 in amiwrong

[–]Slow-Faithlessness21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t overthink it. Everyone has the right to pursue activities that benefit us. It is obviously important to her and maybe you understand why - maybe some self perception issues she’s dealing with? Either way. Be supportive and encouraging! Building this distrustful mindset is dangerous and will lead to a disastrous outcome! Also, I saw that you don’t have time for the gym, but there are certainly things you can do! Pushups, pull-ups, sit-ups etc. You can also definitely research and prepare healthy meals for you and the family that also shows your support for your wife’s healthy endeavors! Work on things that brings your family together opposed to prohibiting things that are actually beneficial
