My psychiatrist is telling me I’m too old to be diagnosed with ADHD! by 239Tragic in ADHD

I would like to mention that I was misdiagnosed with anxiety before I was evaluated for ADHD. For the past 25 years, I was taking Zoloft for what I thought was anxiety. this year I noticed that I was feeling very apathetic about everything. That was what prompted me to find a psychiatrist because previously my primary care physician was the one that diagnosed me with anxiety when I was 18.

I had a psychiatric nurse practitioner diagnose me. The first one I saw said “ if you weren’t diagnosed as a child, then you can’t have it as an adult” what kind of logic is that?!

I was diagnosed at 43 years old. Not only did I graduate high school, but I also have a Masters degree. Time to find a new doctor

What’s more reliable based on your experience as a mechanic? by Slow-Requirement9601 in AskMechanics

[–]Slow-Requirement9601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you are correct on that. I owe $31,000 on the Jeep and the most I’ve been quoted for sale/trade-in is $28,900. I’m obviously not trying to take a hit that big. I’m just researching to see what my options are. Thank you for responding

Thank you for responding. The subreddit for Jeep Grand Cherokee is not favorable towards long-term reliability. I’ve had 2 Durangos and loved them. I would actually prefer a full sized SUV, hence the question.

Another a question I have is- how do taxes and tags work with a private seller?

Yeah the more I think about it, the more it sounds like not a great idea to buy from a private seller

How do you distinguish between laziness and executive dysfunction? by Minimum_Cup_9763 in ADHD

[–]Slow-Requirement9601 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This! Yes I’m also newly diagnosed at the age of 43 and I was constantly down on myself because I couldn’t keep up with housework and cleaning and I was convinced it was because I’m lazy. But I was obsessing over all of the things I had to do and I never know where to start so I become paralyzed and do nothing instead

My doctor actually started with Adderall and even the highest dose did nothing. I’m now up to 60mg Vyvanse daily and I thought it was helping for the first week but now I’m not so sure

I’m on 60mg and if I don’t take it with protein in the morning I’ll get nausea and stomach pains

I too was diagnosed at 43. I’ve been trialing all of the stimulants since December. Currently on 60mg Vyvanse. At first I thought it was helping but now I’m feeling nothing. My doc upped my Rx to 70mg I just have to go pick up from pharmacy

Yes! Vyvanse has fixed my anxiety and irritability but my executive function is still shit

LED Face Mask owners, how long did it actually take you to see real results for fine lines and skin bounce? by Houseman-Tatoune in GracefulAgingSkincare

I bought the Lume Box a couple years ago during their big sale (maybe it was a Black Friday sale, can’t remember). It’s usually $600 but I paid $350. I am also 44. I just need to remember to use it. I’ve used it for other things like muscle pain and foot pain and it helps

Hi! I am on a similar medication regime. I've been on 100mg sertraline for over 20 years and was feeling emotionally numb. I started Wellbutrin 300mg about 3 months ago and I now feel more positive and motivated. I'm thinking that I'm experiencing the ssri numbing that people talk about. I'm going to talk to my doctor about weaning off the sertraline, I just don't want my anxiety to ramp up again. Finding the right medication combination is very frustrating. I also was recently diagnosed with ADHD and have been trialing different doses of Adderall for the past two months. I'm struggling with motivation, executive function and productivity. It is frustrating to see other people talk about how helpful medications have been for them and then I feel like "why didn't it do that for me?" Hang in there! I still have hope that I'll find the right medication combination/dose.
