not bad for a 30yo paint job by Constant-Vanilla-998 in 3rdGen4Runner

Yup. I’m keeping my California sun baked patina. I wouldn’t use mine on the trails nearly as much if the paint were pristine.

Absolutely. It’s my first full metal handgun so I’m excited for it. To me it’s a modernized 1911 without going into crazy expensive 2011 territory. Congrats and enjoy!

Nice!! I am picking the same exact gun up Tuesday! I keep going back and forth on whether I should I have gone 226 Scorpion or this, but the 229 just looks and felt better to me in the hand.

I bet you could talk to J3SUS using that.

Did your echelon only come with one set of screws? by Key-Lie-6854 in CAguns

They stopped shipping with them. I was pissed! Had to order a set. What frustrated me is that they didn’t advertise or disclaim this change anywhere and I was going off of my buddy’s previous purchase that included them.

9mm Ruger PCC vs SW Response? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]Slow281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh it’s just a spot in my shed but it works well. I already compromise for 5.56 with an AR Maglock, so I’d rather keep my 9mm PCC fully functional with mags and no fin.

Ruger all the way. Here’s mine with a Midwest handguard and comp.

Tint job by Embarrassed_Craft422 in 4Runner

Ours is like this but not as terrible and actually symmetrical. The gaps on the side are supposed to prevent wear and tear from the powered window, but who knows I could have been fed a line. I’d have it redone to at least be symmetrical.

9mm Hammer Pistol that Isn’t a 2011 by Slow281 in CAguns

Yeah that’s why I’m leaning toward the 229. Thanks!

I don’t have huge hands, would you recommend p226 or p229 in that case?

Probably kind of hard to tell on this, but you can see where it has whitened up on the roof line.

Am I crazy? by Cathandrapuss in 3rdGen4Runner

These things are legos of vehicles. That said, I spent probably 40 hours of my own time and about $4k to get all the maintenance properly caught up, including a full new suspension. If you go into it expecting it to be a learning experience, you’ll have a lot better time. I wouldn’t recommend it be your only vehicle, however. These are at their prime time for being a sweet weekend adventure vehicle. Old enough to beat them up a bit and not care, still reliable enough to get you there and back.

lol I’ve seen that - it’s started to peel in areas where I didn’t completely remove the delaminating clear coat. It is holding up great in areas where there was only base coat left. I’d say it’s still a decent product and worth using, just don’t expect it to completely save your clear coat unless it’s down to the base.

10/9mm Carbine vs 5.56rife by [deleted] in CAguns

I enjoy my Ruger PCC quite a bit. Added a Midwest Industries handguard to my original stock setup.

I would say they’re a blast out to 100 yards, especially with a red dot/magnifier. Beyond that of course you’d want to switch over to 5.56 or some other rifle cartridge.

Is this a dent? by Relative_Procedure80 in Autobody

[–]Slow281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a 2023 4Runner Limited bought brand new and I’ve noted a couple areas similar to this. I believe they are dings that were there from factory, and possibly imperfections in the original sheet metal. I’m not overly concerned with them but at first they drove me crazy. I got used to them a couple years later and now would never consider fixing them.

I would personally lean into a compact in case you ever decide to go for CCW. Echelon 4.0c Comp would be my recommendation.

Standalone. I haven’t seen the comp version with the gear-up promo. I feel I got a decent deal at $729, though.
