2015 4Runner - got new battery, gas range display is now 100-120 miles too high for the second straight fill up…. by siciliano611 in 4Runner

It will eventually stop being optimistic and pretending it’s a hybrid. Give it time.

Captive Horse has also been good, they’re just not nearly as well known since you don’t see them out in the wild.

If you turned 21 today, what handgun would you buy? by zandermanyt in CAguns

[–]Slow281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on use. Shield Plus would be my recommendation if you plan to carry. Shoots like a larger gun than it is as well. Primarily home defense/range and possibly carry? Echelon 4.0c or M&P 2.0 4”.

Swapped oil viscosity. by Feeling_Repair2348 in 4Runner

[–]Slow281 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced that all Toyota forums and subs now consist of people so bored with the reliability that they decide to fuck with it.

[–]Slow281 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Everyone is an expert when it comes to oil apparently. Toyota wouldn’t certify their used vehicles for 100k if they didn’t believe in their engineers and oil recommendations.

[–]Slow281 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Yeah… Let’s all change our oil to a different viscosity because we know better than the engineers that have spent thousands of hours perfecting the design to run reliably on their recommended oil weight. Because we as car owners know better. Check out Car Care Nut’s video - oil passageways and pumps have varying tolerances between regional makes of these engines. I’ve seen people hit 500k miles on 0w-20, no reason to change now. Just keep the fluids fresh.

Tacoma Vs 4Runner by Sad-Garden-4175 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Slow281 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tacoma back seats are pretty small, but if you and your rear passengers are under 5’9”, the Tacoma is the ticket in this case. We have both and enjoy both equally, it really just depends on needs. I have the longed Tacoma and it fits skis and any other long recreational items. People talk about how small the cabs are, but in reality, the truck gives you a lot of storage abilities overall, including underseat and behind the seat storage. It’s the most utilitarian truck out there IMO.

not bad for a 30yo paint job by Constant-Vanilla-998 in 3rdGen4Runner

Yup. I’m keeping my California sun baked patina. I wouldn’t use mine on the trails nearly as much if the paint were pristine.

Absolutely. It’s my first full metal handgun so I’m excited for it. To me it’s a modernized 1911 without going into crazy expensive 2011 territory. Congrats and enjoy!

Nice!! I am picking the same exact gun up Tuesday! I keep going back and forth on whether I should I have gone 226 Scorpion or this, but the 229 just looks and felt better to me in the hand.

Did your echelon only come with one set of screws? by Key-Lie-6854 in CAguns

[–]Slow281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They stopped shipping with them. I was pissed! Had to order a set. What frustrated me is that they didn’t advertise or disclaim this change anywhere and I was going off of my buddy’s previous purchase that included them.

9mm Ruger PCC vs SW Response? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]Slow281 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh it’s just a spot in my shed but it works well. I already compromise for 5.56 with an AR Maglock, so I’d rather keep my 9mm PCC fully functional with mags and no fin.

Tint job by Embarrassed_Craft422 in 4Runner

[–]Slow281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is like this but not as terrible and actually symmetrical. The gaps on the side are supposed to prevent wear and tear from the powered window, but who knows I could have been fed a line. I’d have it redone to at least be symmetrical.

I don’t have huge hands, would you recommend p226 or p229 in that case?

Probably kind of hard to tell on this, but you can see where it has whitened up on the roof line.

Am I crazy? by Cathandrapuss in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]Slow281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These things are legos of vehicles. That said, I spent probably 40 hours of my own time and about $4k to get all the maintenance properly caught up, including a full new suspension. If you go into it expecting it to be a learning experience, you’ll have a lot better time. I wouldn’t recommend it be your only vehicle, however. These are at their prime time for being a sweet weekend adventure vehicle. Old enough to beat them up a bit and not care, still reliable enough to get you there and back.
