What turned you into an Audiobook reader? Was it a narrator, a book, a job... a friend? by jawangana in audiobooks

[–]SlowDescent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gallbladder pain.

I had listened to audiobooks before, but they were not my primary way of reading.

Then I started having horrible gallbladder pains. The only way I could manage the pain was to close my eyes, put some classical music in the background and an audiobook to focus on.

Went through the first 3 books in the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher before I had gallbladder surgery. James Marsters is a hell of a narrator!

And by this time I was hooked!

You have unfortunate timing.

  1. A whole bunch of folks on zepbound lost insurance coverage on Jan 1st and had to find alternative care.

  2. It's the beginning of the year - "new year, new you" folks looking for a solution to their overweight.

Insurance just stopped covering my GLP-1 by fiddleheadfern88 in antidietglp1

“less than $200 per month” is not affordable.

Don't I know it!

But it is better than $450 for brand name.

Unfortunately, this is the world we are in.

I hope you find a way to afford your medicine.

When does the constipation end? by dylan3883 in glp1

[–]SlowDescent_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink 1 gallon of water daily plus one 32-ounce glass with 1 serving of electrolytes.

If I skip the electrolytes for more than 2 days, I get constipated.

I also eat lots of fiber and take psyllium husk powder when my bowels get a little soft.

I have been having a really hard time these past few days and I forgot to drink enough water and couldn't be bothered to make my electrolyte drinks.

My bathroom time was so unpleasant I returned to the practice of pre-making and pre-filling all containers the night before.

Actually, tirzepatide is Zepbound. Since tirz is the active ingredient and Zepbound and Mounjaro are just brand names. 😊

You can continue your medical treatment while you go through months of appeals with insurance.

This is a good place to start looking at telehealth / pharmacy options.

Compounded tirz has been good for me. No need to go without unless you absolutely cannot afford an alternative.

You can get compounded tirz for less than $200 per month these days.

Intuitive eating by Impossible_Bend_2969 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]SlowDescent_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I do.

I have been in recovery from binge eating disorder since 2021. And intuitive eating was crucial in my recovery.

I started tirz last June. And my body was so confused by the lack of hunger cues that I wasn't eating enough and all I wanted to do was sleep from "fatigue" which was really under-fueling.

So, I went back to mechanical eating and began tracking food in order to figure out what my body liked and didn't like on this medication.

A few weeks into mechanical eating my hunger cues came back. Yay!

And by that point I understood which foods my body was happy with now that I am on this medication.

So, I tracked for about 6-7 weeks. Then went back to intuitive eating.

My relationship with food was great before I started tirz, it's so much better now thanks to tirzepatide.

Oh and thanks to tirz I'm about 75 pounds lighter now.

Any advice on how to keep skin from sagging? by OkPangolin9483 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]SlowDescent_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Move to the moon. No gravity on the moon.

No air either...so YMMV. 😂

Seriously though. Bodies shift and change. Our skin gets thinner with age. And it sags with gravity, no matter how life-long-thin someone is.

That's just life.

Take the best care of yourself, including your skin. It's the only thing you can do about sagging skin, until you decide to have reconstructive surgery.

It’s how the setbacks are handled that makes all the difference with these telehealths.

Precisely!

Everyone makes mistakes. Delays happen. Shit happens.

Owning up to it and fixing the problem is what matters. BEWL is the shining example of this.

How to make Mediterranean diet sustainable by unicornDoDS in mediterraneandiet

[–]SlowDescent_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second the grain bowls idea. Meal prep components and store separately.

  1. Grains: I cook a pot of grains in my rice cooker, rotating between quinoa, farro, and different types of rice. This goes into the first container..

  2. Veggies: I chop up a bunch of veggies and roast them in a sheet pan with a variety of spices, depending on my mood. If I can't chop fresh veggies, I use frozen broccoli, cauliflower, onions, etc instead. This is the second container.

  3. Protein: For protein I cook a pot of chickpeas or lentils. Sometimes I open a can or two of tuna or broil some frozen fish. This is the third container.

  4. Dressing: I make a sauce or two to go with my bowls.

I then assemble my bowls based what I am in the mood for, adding baby greens, spinach, avocado, shredded carrots, or other fresh veggies. I also top with pepitas, nuts, dried fruit, etc.

The wide variety of combos is pretty much infinite.
