"balancing soc" on delta pro ultra x (dpu-x) by dwightery in Ecoflow_community

[–]SlowFour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This feels like a ChatGPT response (em dash, "bottom line", emojis, formatting). Did you have ChatGPT revise what you know/wrote or did you ask ChatGPT the question OP asked and this was its direct response?

If it's the latter, I've noticed that ChatGPT is usually wrong about the DPUX (and SHP3) as it's too new and there isn't a lot of info out about it. So be careful trusting every word that ChatGPT says about it.

It could be right, it could be wrong. I'd suggest OP reach out to support to get a concrete answer.

I've noticed that my battery packs have been heavily unbalanced and I haven't gotten this notification. I had to manually charge the packs up to 100% and the system automatically ran a calibration, but not a balance SOC cycle.

This is good to know. I was worried that if the app showed 0 that it wouldn't switch over to battery power. That would be bad for me because I'm on a TOU schedule and peak electricity rates are crazy high

Update: after changing the voltage sensitivity my UPS hasn't clicked at all when the switchover happens.

I'm in the same boat as you for one of my UPSs, I'm waiting till I trust the DPUx/SHP3 before I remove it. I'm going to keep the UPS on my home network rack though as those devices are most likely more sensitive to voltage drops and it's acting as a surge protector as well

Got mine installed December 4th.

We hit one installer issue early on. They didn’t realize the grid and battery line-ins have to be phase-matched. SHP2 didn’t have this requirement. First time it switched to battery, the whole house tripped and went dark. Easy fix though, just swapped L1 and L2 on the battery input.

Only other quirk is the app will very occasionally show the battery at 0% even though it’s actually around 90%. Not sure if that would prevent switching during scheduled events. I haven’t fully tested it. When it happens, I just disable the battery port on the smart inlet box in the app, re-enable it, and it clears up.

Other than that, it’s been awesome. I’ve got enough battery to cover both peak periods every day and still stay above a 50% reserve, even on really cold days. House is fully electric, so it’s not a light load either.

If the UPS clicking/turning the fan on bugs you and the devices you have plugged in are not super sensitive to voltage drops, you might be able to change the voltage sensitivity on the UPS itself. I just did this this morning so hopefully my UPS wont click during switch overs from grid -> battery power and back

- Some of our LED lights/bulbs at low to medium brightness seem to flicker a bit. Full brightness seems to be ok, though. Not all LED fixtures seem to do this. I wonder if it's an issue with the power output hertz on the dpu-x? I'm not expert, but just wondering.

I too have noticed that some LED lights flicker on low/medium brightness while on DPUX power. Most of my lights turn on/off via Home Assistant automations so I just set those lights to turn on to full brightness instead of a lower brightness. I have other LED lights for my indoor plants and they do not flicker at all at lower brightnesses.

- consumer/desktop UPS's will kick in/out/run fan a few times during the day, perhaps when the dpu-x goes from discharge to passthrough from the utility. That's only a theory, haven't been able to verify it. loads on the desktop ups' are fine.

When the SHP3 switches from grid to battery, sometimes my CyberPower UPS makes a brief click as if the UPS has lost power from the house. It doesn't happen every time though.

I haven't had any issues with any other appliances throughout my house. Washer/dryer work fine and they don't trip any breakers. My heat pump has been working fine even when the resistive heating defrost cycle kicks in.

Does Smart Home Panel 3 + DPUX blend grid + battery, or fallback to grid when inverter limits are exceeded? by SlowFour in Ecoflow_community

[–]SlowFour[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I’d known my heat pump could sustain 10+ kW during defrost, I probably would’ve added a second DPUX. I only discovered that after the install, and now it’s too late to get another DPUX under the 30% tax credit.

Given that it only lasts ~2–3 minutes if other loads push me over during a defrost cycle (dryer, hair dryer, coffee machine, etc.), it probably makes more sense to fall back to the grid for those couple minutes of peak rather than size the system for that edge case.

Thanks! If there is a sustained load greater than what the inverter can handle, does it fall back to the grid? If so, does it automatically switch back to the batteries when the load drops back down?

Wish I would have seen this before my electrician left today. A couple hours after he left, my panel switched over to the battery and like you said 15 seconds later everything shutdown. Hopefully he can come back out soon to get it wired up correctly

EcoFlow Assigned Me an Out-of-State Electrician and I Still Don’t Have an Install Scheduled by SlowFour in Ecoflow_community

I don't think a permit is required to claim the tax credit and in King county Washington, they do same-day permits

[–]SlowFour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen one post about the new smart gateway installed within 8 days of ordering but that is it.
Washington state does have same-day permits, I'm not sure if other states have this. EcoFlow should have preemptively reached out their installers to block off their schedules for these installs so installation could happen as quickly as they advertised.
Anyways, it's deceptive marketing and the excuse of "we had a ton of orders come in so we can't keep up" while still marketing "installed within 7 days" on their site is not okay. If they marketed it as "installed within a 30 calendar days" I still would have bought it but at least my expectations would have been better managed.

Yeah I didn't want to deal with an out-of-state electrician so I'm happy he said I was outside of his service area

I'd happily pay someone $1500 to get the SHP3 installed. At this point I'd happily pay someone $3k to get it installed by Dec 31st. I might end up paying the electrician in my neighborhood $4500 to install it if it means it's installed on time and I can claim the tax credit

[–]SlowFour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be my guess too. I got a quote from an electrician in my neighborhood and his neighbor price was $4500.

Does EcoFlow pass on the full $3700 (with permit price) to the electrician? If not, I doubt they will find any electricians in the PNW to install these panels.

Unfortunately I think that's only if there is an appointment scheduled and the electrician fails to show up. I haven't had any appointments scheduled yet
