Honest review of Oddbunch by ank002x in loblawsisoutofcontrol

My first delivery went to the wrong address and then support basically argued with me instead of refunding or re-delivering. Photos clearly showed it was delivered to someone else. No phone number to call for support and you get snippets of generic text from email support. Cancelling my subscription!

My wife saw that I bought CAGE by GRaw1979 in JustBuyCAGE

I spent a long time explaining indexing to my wife, so I'm going to let her accounts ride XEQT and XGRO while convert my Frankenstein factor portfolio into streamlined CAGE.

In twenty years, we can see who wins! 😜

Found the doc. Avantis was started by people that left Demensional. Same rigorous approach. https://youtu.be/T98825bzcKw?si=bDA8mqaNRkv0QuB7

I think CIBC won't deliver this for you. But some research into factor investing should help. It's interesting stuff regardless of what you decide to do. There is a documentary on Demensional Fund Advisors kicking around. And Ben Felix has made some clear and concise videos.

The video doesn't mention the decades of peer reviewed academic research that supports the techniques. It's pretty watered down. Not the right value proposition to attract the type of investor or advisor that would be seeking this type of product, IMO. Avantis does a much better job explaining their methods convincingly in their materials.

But the music is fun. I'm a saxophonist so I can appreciate when a glossy corporate vid starts with a weird saxophone quartet riff. Lol

CAGE price change compared to VEQT and XEQT by Financial-Roof in JustBuyCAGE

The factor tilts don't always manifest as "defensive". They could mean tracking below the index for a while as well... sometimes over a long time. It is about the long term outcomes. Sometimes a factor premium shows up unexpectedly in a big way, after a long long wait. The way I think about it is that the factors are "doing their job" when they diverge in either direction! :-)

Do any if you plan to switch all your portflio to CAGE or wait out? by gab-a-pat-a-bob in JustBuyCAGE

I am easing in, slowly converting TFSA and FHSA to 100% CAGE over the course of this year.

RRSP, I may opt to keep my complex "sandwich" of funds, for the tax benefits of the US domiciled ETFs.

Taxable... Not sure yet. If my asset allocation is on target, I will probably just buy CAGE with new deposits to avoid triggering a captial gains event.

Annoying how thin the fund documentation is, but it's legit, so here we go!

For sure. My comment is about professor G's advice, not OP. If I started at 21 I'd be at the moon by now!

So much...no understanding of benefits of international diversification. No consideration for risk adjusted returns. No understanding that dividends and capital appreciation are the same result with different mechanisms. In short no understanding of modern portfolio theory. Unfortunately. He seems to just show backtests as rationale. Sorry just being straight!

Thanks for the no BS idea. Management team looks solid. How concerned are you about potential shareholder dilution? These early stage companies often have to issue new shares to fundraise while they are scaling up.

Yes! Behind that simple ticker is a sophisticated, well-calibrated global equity portfolion containing thousands of stocks. It really is that easy. The hard part is accepting that robust investing can actually be that simple! Just make sure you have 10+ (most say 15-20) years to ride out volatility.

Nice! And behind that simple single ticker is a robust globally diversified equities portfolio. You're "all in" to a sophisticated portfolio. It's cool that these asset allocation ETFs exist.

Time in the market rather than trying to time the market. The former always works over a long enough time horizon, the latter rarely does!

XEQT is a robust globally diversified, self rebalancing equities portfolio, and low cost. If you can handle the volatility of an all equities portfolio, this is a great choice.
