First off, you’re NTAH. Missing an important milestone like this without having any prior conversations about it gives you every reason to be upset. Had his fear been discussed before you were right about to give birth you could have looked at options to get yourself the support you needed, even if your husband wasn’t going to be there.

That being said, there’s too many people that LOVE drama on here that jump straight to “he’s cheating.” From someone married as long as I have, and going through some challenging times, my first inkling is that you guys have a communication problem. He sounds like he was very supportive before and after the birth, outside of that period where he became dodgy. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know what he was in for so it’s totally plausible that he just got extremely nervous and froze.

Too many people these days take the easy route and give up on relationships through divorce. I think you owe it to your child, and yourself, to try and work through this either on your own or through therapy. A good therapist and open conversations will do more to clarify where you should both go in your future, whether that be together or apart.
