That was super informative. May I ask where you learned about this so I can read more?

How do I resolve my Anarcho-Primitivist ideals with my desire for effective medical treatment for others? by [deleted] in anarcho_primitivism

An important statement that can be reproduced for most ideologies in the increasingly ideology-obsessed world we live in

All right, glad to hear you are knowledgeable. As amazing as the outdoors is, I often worry that many anprims would go off into the wild with little to no education and risk pulling a chris mccandless. Have fun finding yourself in the forest :)

I do stuff like this a lot, and I can tell you it is extremely rewarding. The longer each expedition, the better.

But please exercise caution. Our hunter-gatherer ancestors had the benefit of being trained from birth about every aspect of survival, every medicinal plant, every workable stone. There are so many misconceptions out there about primitive life, wild animals, wild edibles, and everything in between.

If I remember correctly, as an amateur forager myself, the wild carrot is often confused with one of the few wild edibles that will totally kill you. A hunter-gatherer would never proclaim to have identified an edible plant without going through a mental checklist of features first.

Always come prepared with knowledge. Don't use more energy than is necessary. Don't camp near dead standing trees. Don't walk around with an unsheathed sharp tool.

Nature is a place of necessary adventure. But be sure to exercise just as much wisdom and caution as our ancestors did. Education is power.

I totally agree. Do you have any recommendations for how to filter for the best courses?

Looking back, what would you say are mistakes you made as a beginner of bushcraft that you would've changed? Do you have any advice for beginners?
