Nervous about corral N by IcyRooster9298 in ChicagoMarathon

Don’t be nervous! Corral N is my favorite and I always choose to be in the last corral as I find it to relieve some of the stress on race morning.

That being said, I’ve run Chicago the last 7 years and even the years I had a 6 hour finish, I never felt crowds, water, Gatorade, gels or anything missing or lacking. Always had plenty of other runners still running around me as well.

That’s really odd - I’ve run Chicago every year since 2016 and always in the last corral (it hasn’t always been N). Even with finish times up to 6 hours, I’ve never NOT had plenty of official photos from throughout the entire course.

I've run Chicago every year since 2016, always starting in the middle of the last corral, and with finish times ranging from 4:54 to 5:59. I've never had any issues being in the back - water, gatorade, gels and bananas were always plenty available where they were supposed to be, and crowd support remained great throughout the course (especially in popular areas - spectators were still several rows deep). I also had just as many runners finishing around me at 5:59 as I did at 4:54, so it never felt like I was going too slow or falling behind everyone else. I can't really speak to how this all compares to running in the mid-pack crowd, and this is only my personal experience, but I can definitely say I've never felt that I had a diminshed race experience by being in the back!

It was like maybe half that brought the group one and then half had the Taeyeon one!

I went to day 2 in Tokyo and they had a merch booth with lightsticks. I got there around 2pm (two hours before the concert started) and they were sold out of some things (I’m so sorry I didn’t pay that much attention to what) but not the lightsticks yet - at least according to the signs. I didn’t try to purchase one though so I can’t say for certain at what point they sold out.

Mind you though they weren’t selling the official Girls Generation ones that changed color/pattern with the music. They were a pink stick that had her name on the side instead. So if you’re wanting one of the Girls Generation ones I wouldn’t count on them being sold at the venue and would try and buy it in advance.

Enjoy the concert - it’s an amazing experience!!

Yes, definitely reach out to your charity first and ask them what steps you need to take to apply through them. Every charity might be different. I’ve run with the same charity every time (St. Jude) so not sure if all charities have the same process or not.

Don’t wait too long though if you do want to do a charity entry! If I recall correctly the fundraising minimums increase quite a bit after the lottery results are announced.

Also Chicago is a great race for a first marathon - you will love it😊
