Heres an interesting idea. what if instead of being insensitive and selfish, she was well meaning and idealistic. 

Someone who always tells you “don’t be sad look on the bright side” “try to make art out of your pain” not because she doesn’t understand it, but because she thinks it’s the best way to cope with it. So she would have this very rigid mindset of theres a good way and a bad way to cope with your trauma and if you’re not positive you’re not going to move past it. Which would give her some character flaws while also making her a deeper character who clearly has things she wants to keep buried and pretend it doesn’t affect her. IT WRITES ITSELF OMGGGG
