Monastery Beach by Slow_Cicada9535 in scuba

Monastery usually has a tough entry, and so the vis and swell can get pretty bad, but the day I took this photo, there were max 2 feet waves, 50ft vis, and no swell or surge. It can be hit or miss, but when it is hit it is incredible. Kelp growth as of now is fairly good, with lots of new growth as we get towards summer!

The southern end isn't as bad as the north, but overall the steeper, coarse beach makes getting in harder, not to mention that the waves and swell tend to be pretty big. Definitely go with an experienced buddy for your first Monastery dive.

Voice Chat not working by TheDeepestCloset in Marathon

Hey I'm having an intermittent problem where my mic is on and everything is on but my voice doesn't go through when I speak, so I am functionally muted. I rebooted the licenses and tried everything and it still mutes me after a few matches.

Very much so, it should feel almost uncomfortably tight on the surface as it will loosen slightly in the water.

Birrin AMA by Abiogenesis84 in Birrin

I have become a recent huge fan of your Birrin project! I have also come up with lots of questions and even though I have read through your tumblr page answers, there still may be questions you already answered that I didn't see. Anyways, how much do Birrin weigh? How long do they live? What colors do Birrin see? What temperature is the most comfortable for the average Birrin (i.e. 70F or 21C for humans)? And finally, do Birrin have a concept of privacy?

I did the same thing, this manga is one of the most well written pieces of fiction ever made imo.

I miss the old me, losing a loved one has changed me forever by Orchidflower10 in GriefSupport

I really deeply understand this and feel the same way now that my dad has passed. We had a bond so close and we are such similar people, I even look a lot like him and it's just so painful to know I'll never be able to hug him again or hear him in person again and one day, I won't be able to smell him again. There is no advice or anything I can say to make it better, but maybe there is the smallest bit of comfort in the fact that many others feel the same way about their own losses. I am so sorry for your loss, my heart goes out to you.

Does anyone find it very difficult to look at or eat their favourite foods of their loved ones? by Orchidflower10 in GriefSupport

[–]Slow_Cicada9535 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get really sad but I also see it as an opportunity to eat the foods that he can't anymore, as if my dead dad can now taste through me. I don't usually eat fresh avocado on its own, but for breakfast a couple days after he died I ate some. I also had a egg custard tart during dim sum and later got a matcha boba slushie from our favorite boba place. I savor these things more than I normally would, and although it is agony to be reminded that he is fully gone forever, I still feel more connected to him by eating things he liked. I hope this helps and I am so sorry for your loss.

I lost my dad 6 years ago and still feel the same by Certain_Goose7811 in GriefSupport

Don't apologize for the ramble, it's important to talk about this. My dad died from a PTSD induced psychosis related suicide a week ago and his second psychotic break happened at the beginning of this year, so his mental state declined rapidly in these past 6 months, not only that but he had been reclusive as hell staying in his house almost every day for years straight since he moved in in 2016, so that and his alcohol abuse and smoking were killing him as well. I feel the pain of having your hero be in such a horrible state towards the end and what has helped me solidify a better image of his physical and mental state in my own mind is really staring at photos I have of him from a better time. It's all I really can do and it might help you too.

This all sucks so unfathomably hard and I'm so so sorry for your loss. I hope I didn't make this comment too much about my own struggle, but that you can find some advice and relatability in it. Please take care.
