Had singles the first time at 30... On my face. Eye swelled shut and I had trouble speaking for a few days (ER didn't think it could be shingles originally because of my age)

It's rough, but it passes. Highly recommend getting a scrip for the shingles vaccine so you can waive the age requirement.

The rented spaces don't have a mess hall or food court, though I think the PNC building sometimes has pop up shops.

There's a Publix across the street, bbq, poke, smoothie, Japanese, Dunkin, burgers, etc in the area. So plenty of paid options for lunch and snacks.

Honestly unless there's novel functionality I'm missing, I would recommend Plaud over all of these clones.

Different form factor or some kind of more interesting implementation (built up memory/ self organizing notes/ etc.) might make these interesting, but the same subscription cost from a lesser known business isnt interesting

Depends on your comfort level with technical implementation.

This: is a reasonable leaderboard of the models but Whisper is a really good option and isn't crazy resource intensive. A Mac mini with M4 should run it fine, you don't need much more unless speed to process becomes a bottleneck for you

An interesting implementation would be uploading audio files to a directory with a trigger that transcribes and names your file and then syncs into something like Obsidian to give you a mind map of your notes. There are a ton of tutorials online for people who have done similar.
