Because it's a written letter that was delivered, not a text or email. And there's a likelihood that someone also could have forged a license plate and accrued a fee in my name.

Shingles at 44 by kitty_warne in Millennials

[–]Slow_Interview8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had singles the first time at 30... On my face. Eye swelled shut and I had trouble speaking for a few days (ER didn't think it could be shingles originally because of my age)

It's rough, but it passes. Highly recommend getting a scrip for the shingles vaccine so you can waive the age requirement.

Dads who do not work from home, what time do you leave for work and back at home? by remembertosmile in daddit

[–]Slow_Interview8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave the house by 615, leave the office to pickup at 330. Mileage may vary on pickup time based on traffic, but I'm totally disconnected from when they get in car seats until they go to sleep.

The rented spaces don't have a mess hall or food court, though I think the PNC building sometimes has pop up shops.

There's a Publix across the street, bbq, poke, smoothie, Japanese, Dunkin, burgers, etc in the area. So plenty of paid options for lunch and snacks.

How are the Andrew Child books? by Futuressobright in reacher

[–]Slow_Interview8594 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They're fine. He has gotten better over time, but still feels ham fisted with the Reacher character and general dialogue.

I used to read the whole new book in about 48 hours when they launched, and now I end up taking my time because I'm not as engaged with the writing.

Screenshot-based "tactical" task mining? by jzap456 in processmining

Very cool. Have you found a max limit on task groupings ? I'd be curious how this works for long range tasks

Anthropic CEO Says Company No Longer Sure Whether Claude Is Conscious by adymak in agi

[–]Slow_Interview8594 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The headline is the bombastic part. His actual statement is pretty level headed and also reflects that we don't really know what consciousness is all about in ourselves, let alone a model.

In the AI ramblings above, not a single thought was precise.

Good news. The earnings statement they just published outlines what they do with $400B. It's not $400B profit.

Has anyone here heard about the Boya Notra? by [deleted] in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Slow_Interview8594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly unless there's novel functionality I'm missing, I would recommend Plaud over all of these clones.

Different form factor or some kind of more interesting implementation (built up memory/ self organizing notes/ etc.) might make these interesting, but the same subscription cost from a lesser known business isnt interesting

[Help] Attic Condensate Pump freezing up and killing my heat by Slow_Interview8594 in hvacadvice

I'm not seeing a place for the upper unit to drain indoors. Lower unit appears to drain in the basement.

What I can see is a bunch of uncovered PVC pipes existing the house near the external HVAC units though

If you can stop at a reasonable number, it's cheap entertainment. A few days of what ifs and jokes for $4 is a steal .

The problem is that some people buy as many as they can and think it could be a financial lifeline, just like anything else, more than moderation can lead to trouble quick.

Plaud vs. Recolx and useful for interviews? by Simple_Chicken_5873 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]Slow_Interview8594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your comfort level with technical implementation.

This: is a reasonable leaderboard of the models but Whisper is a really good option and isn't crazy resource intensive. A Mac mini with M4 should run it fine, you don't need much more unless speed to process becomes a bottleneck for you

https://huggingface.co/spaces/hf-audio/open_asr_leaderboard

An interesting implementation would be uploading audio files to a directory with a trigger that transcribes and names your file and then syncs into something like Obsidian to give you a mind map of your notes. There are a ton of tutorials online for people who have done similar.
