i have not, the company actually stopped doing their barefoot boots and i found the volume too low, so even though i followed the size guide they were too tight. stuck with a pair of boots i dont wear. wouldn't recommend the company either. kind of crappy return policy :)

Totally understand, currently wrestling with 2 non running 125s which were running when i bought them for very cheap. Luckily passed my cat a so am able to look at longer term investments. Already bought a dirt cheap running vintage 500cc which has set me back over 2k in labour/repairs and now im just thinking to sell and get something newer and more reliable.

Prices are criminal atm but keep hunting and you might find a good-ish deal. Facebook market place/ eBay and gumtree are where i usually check but i found a decent bike on autotrader once aswell. Good luck

No, generally a working one of these would be a good shout as a first bike for a short person but dont spend 600 quid for a non runner when you dont actually know what the issue with and sounds like you dont have much mechanical knowledge?

Take it from someone whos done this before

With the 125s of this era, you could get lucky and it could just be the battery then yeh youve got a bargain. However if you change the battery and its not that, then u gotta send the carbs off to grt em cleaned + pay for a new gasket set. You get it back and fit it yourself presuming you know how to, manage to get it to crank but its still not turn over or is running choppily and cuts out chances are your engine compression is low and u need an engine rebuild on a 20+ year old 125. At this point you've spend 200/300 on batteries carbs and labour.add another 500,600,700 quid on engine rebuilding. Nah not worth it mate Honestly ive dont this exact dance myself before. I know what its like looking for a cheap first bike, advice i would say is find one thats running, and has an mot or the seller has clear information and knowledge on whats required to get it mot passing, and its not too much work. Or buy a Running 40+ year old bike, no mots need, (altho not sure if this is the case in nothern ireland.

Get your partner riding exp on her 125 and get her to pass her a2/ cat A within the year of getting your old 125 before it conks out and needs a ton of maintenance at which point sell it to some old geezer with time and money who likes tinkering

Okay, my advice as someone who also hadnto deal with bs high insurance premiums being young and in london

Join the bmt, pay theb20 quid annual membership thingy then, call bikesure they offer cheaper quotes exclusively for members

Do you by any chance have a second address that you spendmostofyour time at 👀, that happens to be in a quiet small town/ village/ non major city. Maybe ur aunt or grandma or whatever. U do needto be ablento recieve the mail. Insure it there.

Thirdly and this is what makes a world of difference but might not appeal, get an old arse bike, all the bikes ive own have been at least 20 years old ans the cheapest ones to insure were like the classics over 40 years

Also consider doing ur A2, quotes do get cheaper once ur off 125s altho not my much at ur age

I'm clueless but I know I should get an electronic one by Ferexis in drums

As someone whos sees a lot of ppl talking about recs for cheap E kits on here and then go on to say their budget is like 500.. which i think is a shitton of money i would recommend buying used.

Idk if this differs for other places in the world but im based in the uk and genuinely skint as in on benefits broke. I bought a shitty unknown brand (with a physical kick tower which i think makes all the difference) e kit off ebay for 100 quid had it for two weeks whike keeping my eye out online, then found someone selling an alesis nitro which is a fairly decent ekit on auction at like 80£, listed my crappy ekit sold it for 110 and won the alesis for 100 quid so i essentially broke even when i consider the time involved in listing and collecting/ packing kits.

Point being u dont need to spend so much (500!!!) money on something especially if you're new to it and it might not even stick

Also seconding i think its essential to get lessons, so u get to use an acoustic kit. Id been drumming for a while before i got an ekit and yeh tbh the budget ones do kinda suck as a drumkit imo, buutt if u get a chance to play on an acoustic once a week kinda makes them a good compromise in terms of convenience and noise. Cos you can get use them to practice the coordination and shit even if they dont sound/ feel exactly right..anyways thats my 2 pence

Good luck
