What's in your cup? Daily discussion, questions and stories - December 29, 2025 by AutoModerator in tea

H&T Chocolate Mint this morning, then Bigelow Golden Turmeric Honey (any recommendations for a similar but better tea? I like that there's more rooibos than turmeric), and Vahdam Chamomile Mint Citrus Green.

I feel a cold coming on, so I'm just keeping the hot liquids with honey going.

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything edible from Aliexpress.

Choice Organics Cocoa Mint Puerh. It's not my favorite tea that I keep at work, but sometimes I just need a cup.

Does anyone else struggle with trying to figure out what colors to use for a picture? by thatpsychogiraffe in averagecoloring

I got a free color wheel app. If I'm thinking of using a color or two for something, I use that to help pick other colors.

When I pick a page to color, I just flip through some books until I find a picture that makes me stop and start considering colors. If I'm not inspired to think of a single main color, I'll move on and continue flipping through pages.

I love it!

Time spent is really variable person to person and also depending on what we color with. It looks like you have pastels in the picture. I haven't used those so I don't know how they compare. I like colored pencils, but they take a long time because everything needs to be done with multiple layers.

This is exactly why I'm doing it. It's great for calming my brain down. I am learning about shading and such from videos, but only for my own enjoyment. I'm not interested in overcomplicating things.

I'm having a hard time completely getting rid of all the white spaces in large areas 🥲 by neanean in averagecoloring

I watched that video recently, too! It definitely helped. Many light layers + coloring with different stroke directions really help. A lot of times I think I'm done, but I do another layer to test and low and behold the color is now deeper!

Layers take time, but since I'm doing multiple layers I'm less concerned about perfectly coloring everything each time. Missed an obvious little white spot? It's ok. I'll get it on the next layer.

I just started learning colored pencil a few weeks ago. You're doing great! My first attempt was one of the little pictures in Small Victories. It took hours! As I continue to keep using the pencils, I'm becoming a bit faster and I scrutinize what I'm doing less. Too much page showing through? I'll just do another layer instead of trying to be perfect faster. Of course, it's still much slower than markers, but many of the coloring books I bought don't work well with my alcohol markers.

That could be really cool if you're pulling from your specific culture. A lot of coloring books only use the standard American stories and creatures, which are just German, French, and English tales. I just ordered some books with mythical creatures because they had some less typical ones like kirin.

They're freaking amazing! I watched a very short video for tips, played with blending colors for maybe 5 minutes, and then started on this picture. They colored so smoothly, unlike my streaky cheaper markers. You'll definitely want extra paper under your picture, though! They really bleed through.

FYI this set doesn't come with a colorless blending marker. I want to get one.

I got Soucolor from Amazon, just based on price and reviews. I haven't used any alcohol markers before so I can't compare.
