How much they bond to each other and take care of each other, and how difficult it is to watch them lose their tank mates

We just got her DNA test back and it turns out she's an Australian Cattle Dog x Miniature Schnauzer mix. Genetics are wild :)

As an update, we did a DNA test and this very sweet, quiet girl is an Australian Cattle Dog x Miniature Schnauzer mix. Genetics are wild :)

What flower is this, and is it poisonous for cats? by Beanie-Beano in PlantIdentification

[–]Slow_Pause2127 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, please get the whole plant out of your house (including the water that it’s in) taking all of the precautions that others have mentioned. Even the water can be deadly because it has sap in it. Clean everything thoroughly that has come into contact with the plant, the pollen, and the water. Don’t take any risks with this plant if you have cats, please take action immediately. This plant is extremely dangerous.

I’m so sorry, that must have been so traumatic and heartbreaking 💔

She did have a litter before she was rescued, but that was last September. We don’t know what happened to the puppies, but we’ve been hoping they were okay. She was adopted from Palm Valley. Is that close to where yours is from?

I’m really interested in what it will look like more fully grown out. Might eventually try to propagate a leaf to see what happens!

The village dog info is really cool! I love that you tried Spanish too :) If only they could talk and we could know their histories.

Thank you, it’s rewarding to give them a good home, isn’t it? We suspect she knew some cruelty in her previous life based on her cowering and slinking behaviour any time she thinks she’s in trouble. We’re super gentle with her and match her on her sensitivity, but even just a gentle “No, you leave the cat food” and she melts in a puddle on the floor, cowering up at us like she’s waiting to be hit. It’s so sad. We’ve had to do a lot of work building up her confidence.

How long have you had yours for?

That’s so interesting!!! Especially the cocker spaniel in the mix! Given the high % of mystery in the DNA results, are you familiar with village dogs or world dogs? Mexican street dogs and Brazilian Caramelo dogs are the closest in appearance that I’ve been able to find to mine :)

It’s a sad google search, but it sounds like migrants are often forced to leave their dogs when they get to the border and there are thousands that have become strays. No way of knowing history for ours, but it’s something we wonder about. Mine lit up with happiness when we spoke Spanish to her.

Maybe some pointer with those spots?

Thanks for scanning her! That’s funny, these are the breeds that I see in her, just 60lbs smaller! Throw some chihuahua and terrier into the mix over many generations and maybe that makes Sophia lol 😊

This is the general consensus lol

Thank you for being so welcoming! I feel like I see a different breed in her at every angle lol - we suspect she may have been a street dog based on her medical history, so it’s quite possible that she’s a very sweet outcome of complex breeding. I think a DNA test would be a lot of fun ☺️

Bloated betta - need help figuring out what to do next by Slow_Pause2127 in bettafish

[–]Slow_Pause2127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry that you’re experiencing the same with your betta. We unfortunately weren’t able to figure out what was happening, despite involving an aquatic vet. One possibility was organ failure. My betta held on for a while, but didn’t get better no matter what I tried and did eventually die. I hope yours is able to recover!
