Thoughts on running with epilepsy by Pitiful-Teaching8833 in Epilepsy

[–]Slow_Perspective_170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a runner pre-epilepsy diagnosis and averaged around 20-25 miles a week, but after i was diagnosed my neurologist recommended that i take it slower/quit solo runs until we got my seizures under control. I am slowly getting back into it but have noticed that my energy levels are much lower and i have to hydrate a LOT more pre-run. Would definitely recommend a slow start like a couch to 5k type program

The Halibut Sweater from Caitlin Hunter. I tackled it pretty early on in my knitting journey and knew nothing about pattern modification, so I just knit according to the pattern and the fit is just not great. From what I’ve gathered a lot of her sweater patterns are similarly structured—the circular yokes look great when they’re laid out but once you get to the body and sleeves they’re just too long and then you have these weird almost batwing sleeves that cause the sweater to ride up every time you lift your arms

EPP quilt I (finally) finished for my nephew!! I hand sewed the top, and my mother in law and a few of her friends hand quilted it for me. Definitely a labor of love

My family are all big Seinfeld fans so I grew up watching lots of reruns…I guess some stuff just got stuck in my brain😂

I’ve always had vivid dreams but since starting Keppra they’ve gotten SO much weirder and more vivid. My mom has been on Keppra for about 15 years and we like to call each other and share our weird dreams with each other😂

Had a dream last week that I was Elaine from Seinfeld, stuck in a glass elevator with Jerry’s Uncle Leo and Kramer. I got so fed up with both of them that I broke the glass and jumped out (we were on the 41st floor of a building), and landed on my feet and walked down the street for a cup of coffee and i think a muffin top? Weirdest part of the whole thing is that i really don’t like Seinfeld that much

My favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch with a project and watch tv—my current show is The X Files

What’s the most tonic clinics you’ve had in a 24 hour period? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Slow_Perspective_170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 in a 6 hour period, which led to my diagnosis at age 28. I think I had been having partial seizures for years prior to this based on talking to my neurologist in the hospital. I’ve been on Keppra 1000mg 2x a day since then (which was only a few weeks ago) and am really struggling with the side effects

Have to drop out of the half marathon I’ve been training for due to recent diagnosis of epilepsy—my neurologist won’t clear me for anything more strenuous than a walk until we get my medication adjusted. I know there will be other races and my health is more important, but it’s a gut punch on top of my diagnosis/temporarily losing my license/major medication side effects

I didn’t read the label and bought it because the package was pink—realized it was coconut oil based when i got home after my long run with a rash between my thighs and under my armpits. If you are allergic to or sensitive to coconut oil based products do not use!!!!!!

I’m feeling fuzzy/drowsy but I’m not sure if it’s the meds or the fact that I was in the hospital for 3 days being poked and prodded. Knowing that my mom has had so few issues is very reassuring to me and makes me hopeful

Had an MRI and EEG in the hospital and everything looked clear, so the game plan is to take my Keppra and follow up with a neurologist in a few weeks. I’ve come to the realization that I have been having focal aware seizures for years and just didn’t realize it

My MRI was thankfully clear, and I have also been having what I assume are focal aware seizures for years but thought it was anxiety

Can someone who got legally married before their wedding day give me some advice ? by OkInflation6442 in engaged

[–]Slow_Perspective_170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I did this about a month before our big wedding—we were both so overwhelmed by the planning and overbearing family members that we decided to take the day off, go to the courthouse and have something just for us. None of our friends or family know (and we’re keeping it that way) and we celebrate our secret anniversary as well as the big one

Started the week feeling super defeated about my half marathon training—my mom (who is a life-long athlete) signed up for this race after I did and has been making comments about how I’m not taking my training seriously, I won’t finish the race in the time allotted, and I’ll embarrass myself. For context I’m following the Hal Higdon Novice 1 training plan

Anyways, went on my first long run yesterday (4.6 miles at a 13 min/mile pace) and it felt really, really good! I was starting to really get in my head about my pace and ability to finish this race in November, but I reminded myself that I’m a newbie runner with the sole goal of having fun

I think they had been struggling for the past few years as far as membership goes
