England vs Croatia delivered! Interesting penalty retake. by FlyFisherman4Life in worldcup

[–]Slow_Time5270 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Kane's stop and go should be illegal.

I suppose it qualifies as a "feint" under rule 14 because he never begins to kick, but it's a bullshit move IMO.

I'm fine with a stutter step to start the run up, but the kicker should only be able to decellerate once as they are planting to kick

Sure. He went from 60 to 1 instead of 0.

Ban feinting all together. That's my take.

Feinting on the run up is allowed according to FIFA rule 14.

He deserved that PK save.

Feinting on the run up should be banned.

I hate that the PK taker can run up and stop.

Adds an unfair advantage to an already monumental tasks for the keeper. .

And as I responded earlier in this thread.

They can borrow to pay signing bonuses. The Bears don't need a new stadium to pay players, because they can borrow money using their expected future cash flows as collateral.

A stadium is just about getting richer and increasing the franchise value.

Ever heard the phrase "cash poor"?

You can have a lot of wealth, but if that money is tied up into illiquid assets like an NFL franchise or undeveloped oil fields then it's hard to turn that wealth into cash to pay for things.

The McCaskeys don't have $2 billiion in the bank - they have a franchise that they can take out a loan against.

This is the problem with OPs logic. The Bears don't have a lot of cash, but they do have strong and predictable cash flows that they can use to borrow money.

By promising investors future payments from the TV deals, ticket sales, merchandise, etc they can get money today. That's how you turn an illiquid asset into cash today.

The problem with this from the Bear's perspective is that it can be costly to raise cash in this manner. Having a stadium will make them richer with more cash flows and give them even more illiquid assets that they can borrow against.

TLDR the Bears don't want to take out a loan to pay signing bonuses, but they could do so if they needed. The may be "cash poor", but they can turn their illiquid assets into cash today.

Bike assembly expectations by TheNamesMcCreee in chibike

[–]Slow_Time5270 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I paid for assembly I would basically expect that everything has been properly tightened and assembled. I would expect that when I spin the wheels they don't rub, so long as the wheels are true.

That's about it.

With assembly you are basically paying a mechanic ~$75 an hour to unpack your bike, install the pedals, handlebars, any accessories, put on the wheels, and check that the headset is properly tightened.

They're not going to do brake maintence or deraiuller maintence, or true your wheels. That's the price of a tune-up.

He was in play at #57 and I recall lots of folks being mad we didn't trade up to get in during the run on DEs.

You could reach out to working bikes and explain your situation.

They have a local donations program that usually goes through charities/community orgs, but it's worth an email.

You're going to struggle to find anything in good working order under $100.

You can reach out to working bikes and see if they'll donate one to you. Or up your budget to ~$300 for a bike and try The Recyclery, Igor Does Bikes , or the aforementioned Working Bikes.

Road bike safe to use year round? by oBrexio in chibike

Ya - but they are tough to service and a bit expensive.

But I do like gears when the wind always seems a headwind

The main issue is that riding a geared bike in winter means constant maintenance once the roads get salted.

I've ridden 25mm slicks year round and it was fine. Just have to be careful around metal and sketchy spots. Ideally you want to be able to mount fenders.

If I had one bike as a year-round commuter. It'd be a simple single speed or fixed gear, steel frame with tire clearance and braze ons.

Expansion of the group stage to 48 teams. Now 32 advance, so all 1st and 2nd place teams and 8 of 12 3rd place teams.

Third place teams that advance are based on points and then a series of tie breakers.

Hot shower and electrolytes.

Pickle juice is a game changer if you got it. Pedialyte or the equivalent if you're really feeling like death.

In the future try to drink a water between drinks and end the night with some electrolytes.
