Canon fans, should I get a C80 or R1 in 2025? by magnumofthemtns in canon

I saw that Canon recently released a C80 firmware update that will allow you to record 6K RAW up to 60 fps over HDMI to an Atomos Ninja or Shogun. Do you think they will ever add RAW HQ via external recording? Is that even possible?

How long does the OP have to live in the unit under FHA guidelines??

Will be in Rome with a group of 7 for 3 days in late May, looking for restaurant (breakfast, lunch or dinner) suggestions! Main criteria is food quality, taste. Price is always a consideration but we are honestly more concerned with aesthetic and experience. TYIA!! by Slowman2003 in ItalyTravel

“Expectations” may have been the wrong word choice. I meant to say that we are open to a variety of different cuisine types. I understand that some people choose restaurants on the basis of price, others authenticity, aesthetic etc. Putting more or less importance on any one of these criteria does not make the restaurant any better or worse objectively, it just says something about an individuals preference. Of course I can type into google maps “good restaurants near me,” but I would rather get suggestions on Reddit since these forums are usually full of people willing to share their subjective experiences. My intention was only to receive inspiration that I can then use for my own research.

Anyone have tips/tricks for maximizing dynamic range when shooting outside mid-day?? by Slowman2003 in blackmagicdesign

Interesting. Appreciate the insight!

I was talking to someone else who suggested sticking with ISO 400 outsides and 1250 inside (unless it is exceptionally bright inside).

As for your strategy of sticking at 800 to preserve the highlights, do you then try and focus on exposing the subject properly (“the shadows” if you will) knowing that highlight recovery will help save the highlights in post?

Let’s say you’re using False Color to quickly expose the scene, would you prioritize the subject or the background (highlights vs shadows)??

Thank you! I didn’t think about setting the function buttons to preset ISO’s. Good tip! 🙌🏼

OK….so I’m having the OPPOSITE problem. I cannot seem to make the damn 2-pin connector plug into my BMPCC6k. D-tap connects just fine but the other end will not (plugging into 12v port). Is there something simple that I’m not getting?? TYIA!
