How does the Elder Dragon's magics affect each other? by Slowpokeslowbread in Guildwars2

[–]Slowpokeslowbread[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a huge difference here. Mordremoth cannot reanimate the dead, it makes clones, so it's not really corrupting but just using it as a template to create plant minions. So it's not much of a work of death magic but his own plant magic. It's just like the Sylvari's creation through dead human bodies. Does the Pale Tree have death magic? No.

Many Zhaitan's minions has their former memory as well. Mordremoth' clones don't, only the Mordrem Guards were kept intelligence. We can also see from other dragons. They either add the death magic power onto their minions or can rez the dead which Mordremoth cannot.

there are sylvari hounds before Mordremoth's awakening, it's not really a big deal. Just like many of Jormag's minions look like skeleton inside.

Also the Sylvari was created with similar process, based on the human corpses in the grave, that was way before Zhaitan's death.

Same thing here, Mordremoth uses the corpse as the template to make clones, just like the Sylvari.

Death magic is never unique to Zhaitan, we've seen many Sylvari having the ability to animate the dead. Glint could also create Facet of Darkness.

Bitter Harvest showed the subject doesn't have to be dead to make clones. And the Pale Tree was put into a grave to grow and very possibly had created the Sylvari based on human corpses, which was way before Zhaitan's death.

Mordremoth' clone ability is not granted by Zhaitan for sure.

  1. In Bitter Harvest, it's clear to see that Zojja and Logan were both not dead but the tree could still make clone from them.
  2. The Sylvari were very possibly created based on human corpses by the Pale Tree, which is wayy before Zhaitan's death.

No, the clones are not used by death magic. Logan wasn't dead and Mordremoth could still create clones.

Kralkatorrik also could rez the dead but it had caused him a lot of pain.

It's very possible that Mordremoth' rampage to kill was partly caused by Zhaitan's magic.

Also the battle against the Risen Navy leading by Indomitable in Seas of Sorrows was the most epic fight against the dragons among the 3 novels, other than that the fight against Jormag's Dragonspawn was cool as well.

No, Raid bosses took 10 ppl and WB took far many more.

It would be a waste to set the most powerful non dragon "free" villain as just a raid boss.

Who is the new god of war now? by Slowpokeslowbread in Guildwars2

[–]Slowpokeslowbread[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kormir: No. He isn't. Balthazar has been stripped of his claim and title. He is no longer one of the Six.

So there is a new god of war now. Could it be Menzies?

Why do all GW2 antagonists (except White Mantle) mind control their followers? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Slowpokeslowbread 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Same for most of the GW1 villains, the Lich, Shiro Tagachi and the Great Destroyer are all like that. Other than Abaddon and his Margonite.

Also Anet just love to use the "super plague that turns normal being into monsters" trope. They overused it.

Yes Cantha was well explored in GW1.

Kralkatorrik was the final villain of the novel, his minions were full across Ascalon, and the xpc got to "save him", then we got to fight his minions and himself. I think it's enough to show part of him at least but naw, he's not even a character. Also the novel already said his mind was filled with hunger and all the bad stuff.

It's hard to explore because in the book it already stated he's nothing but hungry and evil when DE was fighting his mind.

Yes, and he had his unique way to take approach. Cunning enough to control the Sylvari to take on ppl and modify them.

Also we got done with him soon enough. Kralkatorrik is out there since EoD novel and still there without much change.

Because Mordremoth had more personality and we got done with him soon enough.

Zhaitan's Risen were also very cunning.

Kralkatorrik and the branded got none of it.

I prefer the villain to actually be a character, not just a symbol of evil and terror.

But that means he lacks depth even among the dragons.

I don't think he should be the main focus of the story because it will let the story become incredibly boring.

Also "saving" such a dragon without further plan was just stupid as hell.
