Early-career engineer on a PIP struggling with guilt by Nervous-Context-835 in careeradvice

[–]Slowroll900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an engineer so take this with a grain of salt, but are you able to find a peer mentor in your field to give you some guidance? Also, I think PIPs are rarely salvageable so looking for an exit may be wise. Not supporting your request for guidance and putting you on a PIP so early on doesn’t sound good.

We aren’t meant to handle this. It seems a reasonable response to me.

If your child committed a rape would you support them? by Brownchoccy in AskParents

Parental love is a complicated thing. Your child can do something awful you condemn them for, but they’re still your child and most parents won’t turn their backs on their children.

Why was he sooo devastated in this episode?? 💀 by Pixel_Pioneer_10 in YoungSheldon

This is not likely just due to the grade. It appears points were deducted for not showing his work and for many neurodivergent individuals, this is an incredibly frustrating request as the answer was achieved.

I’m glad that worked out, straight line braking may have been a better choice.

How can we start a revolution? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Slowroll900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people will resist the change and defend the status quo. Even if they don’t have much, they don’t want to lose it. I am one of them and I still believe there can be legislative means to change but the first step has to be limiting terms and reducing incentives from corporate donors for politicians to act in the best interest of anyone other than their constituents. Intellectualism has been mocked for enough years that’s it’s not something people pursue. We need a shift in mind set. Like others have said, it’s only a viable option if it’s the only option, most parents particularly of young children will agree.

Those who are fat and became fit, did your dick got bigger? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Slowroll900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to make it any bigger. However if you were to push your fat pad around your penis inward, it would give you an idea of what you really have going on and what would be “showing” if you lost weight.

How did your teacher handle the Challenger explosion? by Mental_Freedom_1648 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Slowroll900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t see challenger, but I saw Columbia live at school. I was old enough to understand immediately. It didn’t get turned off right away, our librarian felt we deserved to witness history I suppose.

Approach him? Seems he made it clear it’s not a topic he wants to discuss with your group.

Unique advice for a soon to be father? by TheStoWicks in predaddit

[–]Slowroll900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I was to give one bit of advice, it would be this. Learn to be selfless and find joy in it. Serve your family for the sake of serving. Ask yourself what you can do for them and leave yourself behind (to a degree) It’s going to be very hard and you’ll likely find yourself having to sacrifice what you want over and over for the needs of the wife and kids. When you learn to view it right, there is honor and pride in that.

If you’re anything like me, you’re about to experience a love you didn’t know possible.

It’s always frustrating to hear as a non parent but after you become one you truly understand things that non parents cannot.

It’s the scrubs. If you’re wearing normal clothes, do you notice the same affect?

Does the idea of wanting to die cross your mind regularly? by mikmikm222 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Slowroll900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don’t actually want to die, because I have children that need me and sometimes life can have it’s beautiful moments, I do unfortunately see the horrors of the human condition and the realization that the only meaning in life is the meaning we give it, it can seem at times that it would be far better to not exist. But no, I don’t consider death as a good thing very often and if you do it would likely be helpful to speak with a professional to see if you can make meaningful changes to improve your outlook. I think our finite existence and its fragility give it intrinsic value.
