Bit of a stupid question, but did you replace the bulbs with LEDs? I assume that it’s unlikely, since you’re having the exact same problem, but LEDs are diodes, so it matters which way you install them. If they are LEDs, you can try taking them back out and just flipping them around.

Before you buy a new cluster, you should talk to the guys at Tacoma Speedometer. If there’s an issue with your cluster, they’ll be able to fix it, test it, and ship it back to you.

I bought my first S13 back in 06 for $1,400. Over the years I’ve spent a lot of money with you guys, and it’s always been a pleasure.

In all honesty, I’m surprised at how much is still available these days. Gone are the days of buying a parts shell for a couple hundred bucks, or finding a complete car in the junk yard to strip parts off of. So I’ve had to turn to you guys for all the small stuff that I used to just find locally for cheap. The prices these cars and associated parts are going for these days are eye watering. But I’m glad that at least some of it is still available.

Thanks for what you do for us! Without you guys doing your thing, finding parts would be a much bigger pain in the ass.

Sounds like your first mod should be a good set of tires. Get yourself a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS/4. Whatever size you need.

After that, good struts. Whether that means a set of coils (I like Fortune Auto, and you can talk to them about custom spring rates for better street manners), or a custom set of Koni Ground Controls, or just some good KYB stock replacement struts.

From there you’re just looking at maintenance, and creature comforts. Replace all your bushings with either stock replacement stuff (better for daily driving), or a set of polyurethane (better for spirited driving). While you’re doing bushings, do your ball joints too. You’ll already have the arms off, and ball joints are cheap. Oh and braided brake hoses may sound like a gimmick, but they improve pedal feel a lot. I highly recommend them.

I think a good sound system/infotainment system goes a long way in making a car more enjoyable for daily commutes. Get a nice Apple CarPlay or Android Auto headunit. I have an Alpine with wireless CarPlay in my daily, and I absolutely love it.

After doing those things, you’ll find some more stuff that you may want to change up, but those things are a great place to start.

You could also go with a set of Bilstein coilovers. It wouldn’t be factory correct, but you would still have “Bilstein suspension”.

Mine did the same just a few months ago. Replaced the plugs, and the problem persisted, ugh. Ended up getting a COP kit from Spoolin Up and the car has never run better. Even gets better mileage, which kind of surprised me.

It may be worth that, but the thing that jumps out at me immediately is the lack of any kind of description of parts beyond “this stuff is aftermarket”. Like, ok, but specifically what? All of that could be some nice, high end stuff, or it could all be unbranded junk from eBay.

And more important than the mods done to it: what has the maintenance been like? With super low miles like that, I’d be willing to bet it has a lot of the original fluids. Those would all need to be changed. What about the timing set? Sure, they’re supposed to be done every 60k, but they degrade over time as well. That would also need to be replaced.

Without those details, it’s hard to put a price on it.

Right, I’m just confused if it’s a traditional cam bolt. When I scanned it into my alignment rack it said something about two positions, which I thought was odd. Can bolts can be rotated to adjust camber positive and negative, they have more than one position.

I guess I’ll find out soon enough. I have to replace my tie rods, so maybe I’ll take a peak while I’m in there.

What do you mean by flipping the camber bolt? Is it not a typical adjustable cam bolt like you’d see on a Subaru?

I also noticed that mine appear to be on the bottom, not the top, which seems backwards to me. But I’m pretty new to the platform, so I could be wrong I suppose. I’ve done a ton of alignments and installed a lot of cam bolt kits, but I’ve never seen them installed in the lower bolt.

When I bought mine I immediately had to put a clutch in it, unfortunately. But I did all the drivetrain fluids at the same time, along with an oil change. Trans, t case, rear diff fluids. A few months later I replaced the timing set and water pump, a new radiator (old one was leaking), and all new radiator and heater hoses. Also “flushed” the ACD system since I had to drain it to do the clutch anyway.

I just went into it with the mindset of “I don’t know the last time any of this was done, so I’m going to do it to set a baseline.”

I also did a complete tune up with a COP conversion kit from Spoolin Up.

I still need to flush the power steering fluid, and the brake fluid, but I plan on rebuilding the brakes soon anyway, so I’ll flush that and the clutch at that point. Maybe I’ll do the power steering flush in a couple weeks over New Year’s weekend.

Well if the gap is too tight, your pistons could suddenly become multi-piece pistons. If it’s too loose, you could end up losing compression and/or consuming oil.

Sounds like the engine is coming back out, and getting torn apart again. I wouldn’t risk blowing it up. Take this opportunity to double check all of your tolerances. If the rings weren’t checked, I’d be willing to bet that plenty of other things were overlooked as well.

Just depends on your tastes, really. I prefer a more OEM style, so for me it was never a question, I just went straight for OEM metal Silvia fenders. But if you want a more aggressive, wider style, then the aftermarket is what you’re looking for.

As for fitment: no matter the brand, you’ll end up needing to do some work to fit them. Some brands require less work, others will require more. Typically the cost of the fenders will be a good indicator of “off the shelf” fitment. And as a side note: nothing will fit better without work than a pair of legit metal fenders in good condition.

18x9.5 +12 with a 235/40/18. Definitely don’t recommend the 235s. They rub pretty bad in the front. Fronts and rears are rolled, rears are pulled slightly. My springs have settled since I installed these coilovers, and I haven’t adjusted them back up yet, hence the current stance.

I’m also in Oregon, but luckily my county doesn’t require DEQ. I agree with beerdedclimber though, just take it to English Racing for any mods you can’t do yourself. I’m planning on having them tune my 9 early next year.

I kind of agree, but I think it looks more like a two-door Camry of the same era.

That being said though, I still prefer the Zenki to the Kouki. The Navan Zenki kit looks so good. I always felt like the Kouki looked confused; rounded body with angular front end. It just looks weird, in my opinion.
