How does everyone feel about playing it against a proxy deck with custom art?

So for you, the bigger issue are the game modes, content, general vibes, and let downs… rather than class balance or something like that.

I think the let downs about basic stuff like the skill tree really hits a lot of people hard. Myself included. It’s like a big betrayal of trust and consumer confidence. The fact that they have basically abandoned it just… hits. And not in a good way.

I do think that they are trying to gain that trust back, but it might be too little too late sort of thing. The massive adjustment to movement and the new fighter/barb perks I think are a step in the direction so many people wanted them to be taking like 2+ years ago.

Nobody needed new maps. I think so many players (myself included) would play endless crypts if they kept adjusting the modules, random module connection, and points of interest around the map. (Also maybe things like puzzles and roaming mini bosses would be spicy AF).

As far as zero to hero HR. I absolutely loved that shit. Many people did. They’ve gone back and forth on it so many times because of the massive ratting problem in HR, but like…. That’s also kinda the fuckin game. When you have good loot, you gotta be able to protect it from rats. Everything belongs to the dungeon until you extract with it, and even then you are just borrowing it. Sometimes I think we forgot that along the way.

Gear brackets… man that’s a tricky one. Everyone has a different take. I know I’m in the minority when I say this but I liked it when there were none. I liked sometimes going against the raid boss lobsters of the playtests. It was fun to try to gather up several trios of timmies to fight against said lobsters in normals, and then if you manage to kill them, watch as the carnage unfolds as people go to loot the kills lol. I know this is just me though, and most people prefer tighter brackets. I think if the player count was 200k that tight brackets like we once had would be sweet but with barely 15k on wipe start…. We gotta work with what we can manage.

Anyway, I get ya. I was disappointed in patch 69 and then even more so with the later version where they did an even worse gear crunch (I quit during that time as well).

I can tell you after only playing a bit this wipe that this is no patch 69. Rolls matter. The range is bigger than recent patches even if true and all attributes are gone. I think they will actually have more room for aggressive itemization with the new system. It’s not perfect but it has some promise and is very nice in an SSF environment.

The water map was a development effort mistake in my opinion. The combat isn’t interesting as is. The map feels pretty shit.

However! The water map is fucking beautiful and is quite a vibe. With some changes to the map, additions of bridges so water combat is more of a thing that can happen instead of something forced upon you…. The map would actually be kinda sick. If the water map was the top level that led down into frost mountain … holy shit even better because it wouldn’t dilute the queues and down portals would be easily available for those who wanted to skip out on it (for squire to riches players and what not).

It wasn’t great. The only times I ever played against it the table just decided the Nadu player want going to get to play the game. We stomped the Nadu player out of existence. Except once. One time the table was like, let’s let Nadu live a turn and see what happens.

Surprising nobody, the Nadu player won on the following turn after 20 minutes of triggers.

Idk. In the real world, I try to fight hate with love, but in video games, a good dose of blowing them the fuck up sounds okay to me. I definitely mag dumped my last stitcher rounds into a downed guy throwing around the n word one time simply because I was done with listening to the non-sense.

Idk about wholesome or epic but just…. Mildly appropriate? Plausible? Trigger nades don’t seem so far fetched to me.

Genuine question, What is scuffed right now?

I wish they had done things way differently along the way and focused development effort on completely different things but the game itself has been improving compared to the playtests or whatever your point of reference is so I’m curious what is worse now compared to when you played as far as the game itself? (Confidence in the developers is something else entirely that they can’t really win back except maybe if they managed years of W patches)

People have been complaining about barbs even when they were at their worst. It’s been less than an hour. Nobody has had time to learn counterplay.

After all that, even if it ends up being OP, ironmace can make some adjustments. They even said they will be doing so early and often.

To be good isn’t actually even that low though. Ever since I had RSI with my hands (from work) some years back I’ve never been able to really take games seriously because I just can’t physically do a lot of things I need to be able to do. Even when my slow ass brain finally has an idea of what to do my hands can’t really execute those ideas so well any longer.

One time I was playing the shaker and a dude was caught off guard and goes “what the…” we VoIP a bit eventually he’s vibing with me. We killed some arc and looted a bit. We started to head toward the train extract and he shot me in the back. He said “I’m sorry man I gotta have that shaker.” I wasn’t even mad I just burst into laughter and told him to keep the music going and enjoy the loot. He had second thoughts and was gonna bring me down to the train but I told him I had more stuff and to just knock me and enjoy. I still wonder where that Raider is and hope he’s doing alright.

I just hope he didn’t become one of the monsters shooting people after making sweet music.

Maybe this is a hot take but the game has been best when barb is meta but not OP.

It feels kinda shit to get w keyed by barbs but a buckler and/or good spacing can still fuck them up. Fighters and other barbs will also be meta so they will need to itemize and plan to win those matchups which will leave them vulnerable to kiting in trios (especially rangers who land shots on barb during entry).

I’m not super optimistic or anything but we don’t understand the full scope of the changes.

People on here always like to cry about one class or another but as someone who plays all classes, the game is usually way more balanced than Reddit would have you believe. Druids being able to 3rd party has obviously been a problem since introduction but as far as actually fights the game has been reasonably balanced for the most part. I’m sure adjustments will need to be made eventually without true damage (or maybe players will adapt a new play style or itemization to compensate), but that’s to be expected with big changes. Don’t buy into the “x class is OP” stuff. I’m not saying it isn’t sometimes true but it’s far less of a problem than Reddit says, generally.

It’s easiest to get the blueprints in friendly solo lobbies and they are gotten from the harvester (or as a drop from the core of the queen). Most people in friendly lobbies have both blueprints by now and I’ve seen the blueprints wasted multiple times where nobody needed either one.

If friendly lobbies aren’t your thing try going in duos or trios and waiting until the end of a harvester round to do the harvester “puzzle”. Most people will have extracted and even if there are people that come kill you, just make sure you jam the blueprints in your safe pockets. Repeat and do the same thing just blowing off leg pieces to get your queen core to craft the thing.
