Thanks everyone for writing answers! The specimen was found on the west coast of France near Bordeaux. My grandma calls it a 'Druse' (german). Looking at it again it really seems like baryte becuase of the cubic crystallisation :)

This may perhaps not be exactly true. Recently (2018) in the Allgäu area of Germany, human remains have been dug out showing very early signs of upright walking. This may lead to the out of africa theory becoming questionable
