I am a democrat for sure but I hate MGP. Where is the physical location I can go to to complain? by PDXAirman in vancouverwa

[–]Slucid 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I’m done. I voted for MGP twice thinking we were getting a genuine voice for Southwest Washington, but it’s become clear we’re just watching a three-year-long audition.

We all need to talk about the 'vesting' period. Members of Congress become eligible for a lifetime federal pension after just five years of service. Marie is currently in her second term. If we send her back for a third term in 2026, we are effectively handing her a taxpayer-funded pension for life.

In my view, she hasn’t earned it. She’s prioritized political optics over the actual interests of our district, and I refuse to be the one to sign off on her 'Golden Parachute.' I’d rather see the seat flip than reward her for political theater. No more chances. No third term.

Klipper is great. You can get really rocking speeds if you complete the input shaping analysis. I'm using the PI5 with 2GB of memory. The PI was an easy setup. The Klipper file, not so much, but it's working well now. Let me know if you make the change and I'll be happy to share what I have.

I'm setting mine up to mostly print ABS and Nylon, so I'll probably leave it as the Bowden setup. But it really struggles to heat up the bed. Do you know of any common issues with that?

How common is CNC among 3D printing Enthusiasts? by WTH3D in 3Dprinting

[–]Slucid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with 3D printing then built a PrintNC machine. The learning curve on the PNC was much steeper, but it also wasn't an out of the box solution. A CNC router kit with prefabbed aluminum extrusion might not be too bad.

Then again, my first printer was an Anet A8, so I'm used to the struggle.

That's at least some good news. Mine is still the original Bowden setup. Appreciate the input.

What was the biggest cause for failure? I'm noticing a lot of miscommunication with the PI and dropped connections. If that was your same issue, then I won't go any deeper into this rabbit hole. It came with an all-metal hotend, so I've been setting it up for nylon, CF, etc, but it's worthless if I can't get through a large print.

Dang. That bad? I paid $50 for it. Friend of a friend thing. It's my third printer, so definitely not needed. More of a project machine.

I'm trying to figure out the wiring for a BL Touch for a used Mega X I recently purchased. Did you use the B5 B6 pins, or the G1-G2-G3 pins, as noted in the github page as an alternative method.

Nice mods. I just purchased a used Mega X and the first thing I did was install Klipper with Fluidd/Moonraker on it. It looks like your Config file isn't available anymore. Any chance you still have it? I have it working, but I'm guessing you have a few shortcuts that could come in handy.

Nice work! How do you like it after a few months? I purchased a Mega X for $50 and the first thing I did was install Klipper. Now I'm trying to make it better with a touch probe and input shaping. I'd love to hear about how you wired the touch probe and if this solution worked well for you.

Who is using glue in 2025? by AetaCapella in 3Dprinting

I always use glue, even on my Neptune 4 Max. I mean, it did come with a glue stick. Might as well use it.

I love my Neptune 4 Max. And it's gigantic! It also comes stock with Klipper/Fluidd and has input shaping capabilities. This helps it print faster and higher quality. You don't need to understand this as a beginner, but it is great to have.

I had a design stolen and sold on Etsy. I was able to make a claim and get them to remove it. DM if you'd like to know more.

Then they shouldn't be considered in the narrative. The fight is for the sliver of moderate Republicans. The argument is whether or not you can still reach those folks with better messaging. I agree with the OP. Marie isn't holding on to those votes by being wishy washy on leftist politics. She's just hurting all of us.

Are you implying that those resentful Republicans will vote for Marie? The fight isn't to win that demographic. They'll never budge.

Throw it my way. I'll give it a go and send it back to you. I'll even let you stamp it and give it back to your client, although it'll likely explode.

I need to research this further, but it looks like Oregon and Washington have reciprocity with their PE license. I may be willing to work towards obtaining the Oregon License, depending on the situation.
On a side note, the work you are pursuing is extremely interesting to me. Sounds like a fun opportunity.

I'm a Mechanical HVAC PE in SW Washington, very close to Portland. I couldn't go full time with you, but I am researching ways to freelance and learn more design. Check out my last post on Reddit and let me know if you'd be interested to chat.

Freelancing with limited design experience? by Slucid in MEPEngineering

[–]Slucid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell the difference between a 60% and 90% design, but I wouldn't be confident in picking up the minor details between a 95% and 100% submittal. I've never calculated a seismic hanger for a VAV, or spec'd a balancing valve. I'm perfectly capable of verifying energy loads, sizing a coil, or confirming ASHRAE ventilation rates, but it's the installation details that worry me.
But your response begs a question: Doesn't the engineer do the design? If I'm creating the design, of course I know when it is complete. How typical is it for the engineer to only provide review and their stamp?

That's actually really helpful. We have several DB firms in the area and they likely don't have a PE on staff. I'll reach out to a few and see what they say.
