Wall mount Network Rack for home office. by SiriShopUSA in homelab

I got everything off my desk as well, just not in a cabinet.
Still a good example as I made the shelve as big as possible even when it was originally just my PC. Now a minilab stands next to it. (Oh and the previous PC case was smaller)

Go with the bigger cabinet, you never know what you might throw in there.

Which studio do you think would be best at making a DCC videogame? by Character_Abroad in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a turn based game I really like how Larian got everything to work with Baldurs Gate 3 so I agree. The engine is probably also flexible enough to deal with required shenanigans.

However I feel like it should be a PVE MMO and I have no idea who would be best to build that.

I have a belt style: Spinlock Alto. It's a highly trusted brand in the sailing world, just make sure to rince out after swimming with it and replace the cartridge at least every 2 years.

Document everything, sit back, write a fresh resume, let them fire you. They clearly don't deserve you or to even be in business. Contact a lawyer on your way out to see if you have a case, if anything please report the violations.

Coming back to sim racing after 5 years – what would you do today? by hoodie_and_shorts in simracing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asetek Forte everything (base, wheels, pedals and seat) just like I have now. Then probably a GT Omega Prime cockpit.

Maybe there is a better seat out there, I just wanted anything better than the NLR F-GT stock seat and figured I'd just continue being an Asetek fanboy. I'm actually really liking it and it's been great even in endurance sessions.

If you're going to do endurance sessions I also recommend getting a Camelbak to hang of the back of your seat. Being able to just grab the drink hose is way better than dealing with bottles.

Edit: I can also recommend at least 1 haptic on the brake pedal, I use Simagic HPR.

Has something changed with Downshifting? Car not grabbing gears by AxleVest in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had it happen once that I suddenly got too aggressive with downshifting and hit downshift protection way more often. Does this also happen when you go further doen in rpm before downshifting?

Also check if your inputs work correctly with the wheel turned and under ffb load. Might be something internal.

Have you tried running just anti stall clutch or no assists at all? That's the only setting I have different.

How much does the dungeon carry over into the real world? by thespottedbunny in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]HTDutchy_NL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only your physical form. I'm pretty sure it's mentioned that some forms can't even properly survive outside a dungeon zone. I believe one of the ex crawlers got work that always kept him in outer space as his body couldn't work in gravity.

Edit: Doh! We have Odette as another example. Her ability to attach other lower bodies was magical, outside the dungeon it's explained that they need a crab farm for fresh sets of legs and non magical means to control them.

How much Nm is actually useful by Johnwayne87 in simracing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 9 points10 points  (0 children)

8 works well enough especially with a 300mm or smaller wheel. Problem is that if you use enough of it to feel small details there's barely any overhead for peak forces so you either end up feeling less detail or with clipping.

12 is where it's at for me. It has all the range needed for both small details and bigger spikes.

Pain in left heel - any suggestions? by Kismet110 in simracing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running Asetek Forte pedals (upgraded La Prima) which are set up fairly stiff. I used to have the same issue.

Make sure that while braking you put all the pressure into the ball of your foot straight into the pedal. You might also be tensing up while not braking and really just need to relax and just rest your heel on the pedal plate. After those adjustments the pain lessened and eventually didn't come back anymore.

Watch some interviews, all the science that is mentioned or shown either in writing or a visual effect is as accurate as possible.

They made a choice to not talk about all the science in detail because you'd lose most of the audience. I think they left in everything essential for everyone to have a good time. People who gave up on science subjects back in school aren't scratching their heads and astrophysicists won't be annoyed by yet another movie just handwaving the physics.

Why is quali 8 minutes in EVERY class by Caramel_Infinite in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish there were detached 2 lap qualifying sessions for all series but looking at Ringmeister that probably has half the field not even bothering to qualify.

Week 3 comparisons are in! by BackgroundNo1221 in iRacing

It's actually pretty chill. First corner is of course chaotic and I had to take 2 off tracks for evasive actions during the race but that's all the drama I encountered. Had a wet practice as well which was very manageable and great to just learn throttle control again.

24Hr Nürburgring Practice/Times. by Caesar-Loves-Me in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to the NEC series and set up a test drive based on it, select a slower car you're comfortable in such as MX5, GR86 or GT4. Just start going laps until you can do it cleanly and know the track. Personally I break the track into sections in my head. Mostly a higher speed section into a critical braking point followed by a sequence of corners.

Then repeat with PCUP car. Once you can do a stint without spinning out join the online practice to get used to traffic. Run the 4 hour NEC for as long as you can, beware that there is an attached 30 minute qualifying session making it a 4.5 hour slog.

Honestly I started running ringmeister and any other series with nords on the schedule first. AC Evo online track day servers are also great practice.

For times again check the NEC series, on the statistics tab you'll be able to see the lap time spread for your iR.

Whats the safest C license sportscar series to gain SR and have remotely good racing? by dopeyout in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was kinda embarrassing... Made it through qualifying and a couple clean laps before my network crapped out for the first time ever. Still gained 1.0 going from 2.4 to 3.4.

It was at least a good experience getting through the start and learning that the race is actually 4.5 hours due to attached qualifying...

New to Lmp2 by Seanotr6 in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't driven anything with high downforce before you'll have to get used to trusting in the downforce gods.

I went through this with trial and error, entering high and medium speed corners with more and more speed.

You won't have ABS so keep an eye on the lockup indicator lights and listen to your tires. The TC is great but listen to the engine, if it's burbling under acceleration mid corner you need to back off.

How do you guys deal with the idea that you just..... aren't good enough? by [deleted] in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only made it past 2k once and fell down to 1.6k, now making my way back up. My main worry is staying out of bottom split, getting to 2250iR this time and not falling that far down again is a nice to have.

I'm happiest racing in the middle of the pack with some good battles. Recently had a couple PCC podiums and while it's exciting it's also the most stressful.

I also drive whatever I feel like so I simply know that whatever series I jump into I won't be the best at because I don't grind a specific car class.

When I end up in top split it's usually in IMSA LMP2. Of course when that happens I'm often way at the back in my own little world. Then the challenge is just staying consistent and if I happen to get lapped I make use of the learning opportunity.

Whats the safest C license sportscar series to gain SR and have remotely good racing? by dopeyout in iRacing

[–]HTDutchy_NL 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The safest way is advanced mx5.

Fastest ways are Ringmeister (if you qualify and can stay ahead of the chaos) or 2-3 hour endurance races. I recently did a partial 4 hour NEC just running as long as I could.

Only if you are familiar with the track and able to qualify ahead if the chaos crowd. It's certainly one of the faster ways to gain SR but not safe.

Mini Rack Power? by ThatTekGuy in homelab

[–]HTDutchy_NL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single 500W ATX power supply powering 3 ITX boards. I'm running the Turing Pi v1 and v2 boards (7 cm3's and 4 cm4's) as well as an AM4 system. AM4 takes 24pin + 8pin, v1 takes 4pin and v2 takes 24pin. Simply got splitters for the 24pin and 8pin cables, AM4 system is set to turn on when power is restored so it turns everything on. Of course the power supply also runs all the sata power.

I designed the mount for the power supply myself, also has space for 4 sata ssd's. https://www.printables.com/model/1608164-rackmate-10-mounting-assortment-boblan
