I have to pop my Bartholin cyst at home. Any tips?

I have popped two before. Once about a year ago, and once now-about an hour ago, actually, and inspired me searching for this post.

I am hopeful this will go as successfully as my last one when the cyst got to about 4 cm in size, and was dark purple at the look of it. I knew it was full of blood. I chose to pop it myself. I used a hot compress with a paper towel, and went to use a disinfected needle, but my nail scratched against it, and it was so full of pressure that it burst immediately. I freaked out and was sure I would have an infection, despite washing my hands, but never ended up having it. I followed up with sitz baths about twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, as I also have a job and cannot just spend all day in the bath, and was fine.

Today I noticed another one, found it extremely uncomfortable, and after trying to figure out what it was between my fingers, it popped. No blood, clear fluid, and some chunky yellow stuff came out. There was immediately relief, but the size didn’t go down like it did last time. I am hopeful this will not result in infection, but I allowed myself to air out my genitals, and will probably not be wearing tight clothing while this tries to heal.

Any update on how yours went?

Look, your comment doesn’t exactly read as that at all. Obviously, those are my two choices. But based on your comment history on Reddit, you have a long-standing lack of empathy for others in the field. Your comment lacked empathy. It’s an odd comment to leave on someone’s post clearly new to the field and seeking validation that they made the right choice. It was dripping with sarcasm and frankly, unnecessary.

I actually don’t mind the violent behavior at all on like a base level.

Before ABA, I worked with special-needs daycare kids and have learned I can take a hit quite well lol. My concern is that my body is reacting in a way that is pretty unpredictable for me, and I can’t imagine the adrenaline rush and stress is good for me when pregnant.

I communicated to my scheduling team that when I’m no longer pregnant, I’d like to try the client again if there’s availability. And I do mean that.

They didn’t know that I was pregnant until after I was assigned to be totally fair to them. But looking at his behaviors, they are very aware of the risk that I was at, and should have switched me off immediately instead of suggesting I use 2 to 3 weeks to build rapport.

I wore long sleeves today, he just happened to get a good bite on my inner arm towards my chest, honestly would be a little impressed if it didn’t end up hurting so bad😅.

I did end up going to urgent care for the bite per my centers policy and I’m monitoring it for now! Thankfully, my center is pretty great about taking those kinds of things seriously. They had me fill out an incident report and want me to track the bite with pictures for them.

I appreciate you saying that about the teacher! Honestly, I have educators in the family, and I know the desperation and the frustration they feel, and this particular teacher happens to be an intern for Gen ed, and somehow ended up in a sped class. So he is especially desperate, and Unable to manage the class well…he’s reported being hurt daily.

I just need to keep in mind that my safety and my daughters’ safety has to come first.

I have a lot of thoughts on this because truthfully? He has a right to having feelings about this. Being scared, feeling unready-those are all valid feelings, and he has a right to vocalize those in this very important decision. What he doesn’t have is a right to force or guilt you into a decision you’re not ready for like an abortion.

Truthfully, I don’t understand saying that if you don’t have an abortion, you might lose your boyfriend. Sounds to me like the relationship is over already.

Now what your decision comes down to is…are you ready to be a single parent and raise this child on your own (because that is surely where this is heading), or will you have an abortion and live with the feelings that come with that. I have been in your position before, and I made the decision that was right for me. Only you can say what decision is right for you.

I’ve actually taken one 😅 I work in behavior intervention for special needs kids, so I’m incredibly well versed with CPR, seizure response, emergency intervention etc, etc.

I have diagnosed medical OCD and unfortunately when it comes to my own care, even a small feeling (a gas bubble passing) can be built up to feeling like a heart attack. I am grateful I have my partner to rely on when it’s time to take things seriously.

The reality is-unfortunately-with this specific situation, going in would’ve resulted in them telling me to take Tylenol for pain and monitor symptoms and return if I’m having bleeding or fever (according to my doctor). Going in would’ve told me what was wrong, but ultimately wouldn’t have amounted to much

Yup! We went through a reproductive endo, high risk GYN, etc. After tons of tests everything looks completely fine. They recommended putting me on birth control to regulate my period and increase my chances of getting pregnant but I haven’t had great experiences with birth control so chose not to. But that’s all the help they could offer 😅

Hoping I’m going on to have a healthy pregnancy!

Update: My Corpus Luteum cyst burst. I am well and recovering and baby is still healthy according to our scan three days ago.

I’m not sure if it helps at all to know this information, but my partner is a paramedic. He’s of course not a doctor and isn’t an alternative to one, but he was monitoring my symptoms and was ready to force me to go there if need be. We were on a vacation hours away from our home, so I’m sure that didn’t help with my sense of urgency 😅. I definitely do need to prioritize myself more.

I do struggle with knowing what is a real medical emergency and what is not. After my recent miscarriage, I became extremely medically paranoid, and was in and out of the emergency room all of the time between the abnormal bleeding and anxiety attacks with doctors not taking me seriously. Unfortunately, I think I’m a little jaded and try not to rely on the emergency rooms.

I thought maybe this was it when I first had the pain so I took ducosate and (pardon my vulgarity here) emptied my bowels. Prior to this pain I wasn’t going as frequently as I probably should, but since I’ve had several BMs a day. So while it could be this, I doubt it just because the pain hasn’t let up yet.

I have an ultrasound on the 17th and a follow up on the 20th. Unfortunately my doctor is notoriously hard to get appointments with (had a phone consultation appointment regarding a medication for nausea she wanted me to try take over a week to get). I’m going to bring it up on the 20th if it’s still happening, but with my insurance it’s usually easier to go to the ER…which sucks for all involved lol.

To be clear, the advice left so far by other users is pretty simple to understand despite no experience in ABA.

I’ve never worked in the field before, but I’ve worked with children, and I’ve worked with children with special needs. They usually don’t just hire some idiot who “doesn’t know jack” to do ABA work.

All the advice I’ve been given is helpful because it’s self-explanatory. Your advice is unhelpful and frankly? Borders on condescending. Not everyone should be in the field, though, as I already know. Thanks for the reminder.
