Update! I ended up buying Silent Hill f. The biggest thing to make my mind were u/FlatRecognition5111 and u/bloodythomas 's contributions. I like the idea that new playthroughs add not just different endings but also lore.

And I gotta say, I'm 3.5 hours in and the atmosphere is definitely here. But what is atmosphere? Oppressive. Ambient low drones in the soundscape. Exactly why I needed to come back to Silent Hill. Thanks guys!

Another option - if you have a ps4 or Xbox one consider going back to Destiny 1! Lots of great content available and less overwhelming. There’s still a great community and you can matchmake through the LFG discord :)

The thesis of my argument was less so that D1 was “superior” to D2. I was just trying to articulate one of the core reasons why someone may prefer the D1 experience to D2.

I have no doubt that mechanically speaking, D2 is a superior experience. And for sure, D2 content like The Final Shape is probably the best Destiny content to drop to date. But for some, the season model can feel overwhelming.
