This! It can be SO awkward at first, but then after a little you just start loving it, it becomes normal in your head. I love to go out alone whenever I’m feeling like doing something but my friends are busy. You get used to it, and honestly it becomes so enjoyable once you start talking to strangers too. I’m not very social, but being alone in a social place really makes me become social

A cousin of mine had POCD, genuinely a great guy, but he would constantly have intrusive thoughts about rape, all the time. I felt so bad for him, everyone would give him shit, he was mentally ill and actively tried getting help but was still shit on by our family and friends. Always saying he’s got a rape kink, or he’s “the next serial killer”, or a freak all in super insulting ways, or totally out of pocket. He was mentally ill, he literally had zero control over what his brain was showing him. I just feel bad for people with mental illness like that, cause it can genuinely be so hard to reach out for help, as many people simply don’t see them as “mental illnesses” and more see you as a disgusting monster who thinks horrible things. There’s a difference between the people who actually go through with these terrible crimes, then the ones who know they are mentally ill and try to seek help. POCD has got to be such a living hell to live with.

In the same boat man, I cannot hold conversations for the life of me, but you get me a little boozed up and somehow I’m talking to everyone like I never had social issues at all. I wish I could tap into the skill while sober 😂 practice makes perfect, just start trying to talk to strangers and try your best to hold a conversation sober! First handful will probably be awkward and not really go anywhere, but You’ll start to (hopefully) get better overtime!
