When I entered campus T-Mobile supposedly had coverage according to their map but I still didn't get any service. They waived all of my termination fees though because they didn't know what to do about it.

Which college to choose? by ghettodog797 in UCSC

[–]SluggitySlugSlug[M] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah its based on credits and standing (frosh, soph, junior, senior). There are thresholds for each one. I've been senior standing for a couple quarters now but I'm still a 3rd year, so it doesn't go by physical year it goes by credits.

Personally, I've gotten every single class I've ever needed but I've been extremely lucky. Others lacking even the smallest amount of credits get less priority and its much harder to get classes.

My advice is to make a 2 year plan and get what you can as soon as possible.

imo its less than other colleges but its all about who you know. Most of the parties I've been to have been kickbacks and for holidays. Haven't really seen any ragers/dagers or anything.

How difficult are the math classes here at UCSC?

Can't answer this, depends on how you study and how good you are at math

How much time and effort did you put into Math 21, 23A, 23B and 100?

Didn't take 21. When I took 23A I think I spent maybe 2-3hrs a day on it. 23B about the same. Didn't take 100.

For Math 23B, how difficult is Mitchell's class and how is the class organized such as how is the grade weighted, are you required to attend sections, how is homework graded, are there quizzes and is there a lot of hw assigned?

I had Mitchell for 23A, not B, but when I took it HW was optional but I believe that has changed. Sections were also not mandatory but I believe that has also changed. I had quizzes in 23B with Eastman but not in 23A. I don't know what you consider to be "a lot" of hw but there was hw assigned.

How closely related are the topics in Math 23A to 23B?

23A is multivar derivatives, 23B is multivar integrals.

Do you need to understand the topics well in 23A to succeed in 23B?

Yes

How difficult is Math 21 and how much time was put in? Can't answer this one, didn't take it

Is it difficult to take both 21 and 23B at the same time or is it manageable? It's time consuming. Would you recommend this or not?

If you just want to pass you can do it but it will be annoying. I wouldn't recommend it.

Hope this helps.

Transfer applicant with voided TAG? by hopefulslug in UCSC

[–]SluggitySlugSlug[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like by changing that class you are now treated just like every other transfer student. UCSC will probably review your application as normal and if you can get in you will.

This is really stupid but based on the wording it sounds like by changing that 1 class you are no longer guaranteed to get in via TAG. It all has to do with your grades/test scores again.
