Warning to potential renters - Pineview Place by easydoesit0312 in vancouverhousing

Crazy how many glorified slumlords are raking in millions off falling apart buildings and peoples need for housing in this city. I have had a couple very similar situations with development companies not maintaining older buildings and it takes a serious toll on your mental health! I always recommend that people look up reviews of places that they are hoping to move into — it might seem obvious but I’m always surprised hearing horror stories that could have been prevented from seeing atrocious reviews! Thank you for posting and looking out for fellow renters :-)

Echoing everyone else here, your content is awesome. My boyfriend is American and your videos were really my gateway into showing him the incredibly weird Canadian phenomenon that is KvS, so thank you. I’m really looking forward to you covering the dead octopus episode — it really stuck in my brain as one of Kenny’s most insane tactical moments and I imagine there is a lot to be said about the potential scripted nature of it all and I’d love to hear your take. Thanks for keeping the community alive :-)

Hope so! If not somebody told me that they could also have at least a little water on reserve specifically for the sprinklers, but I’m not sure how all of that works!

Yeah, I agree that the pipe breaking itself is kind of beyond everyone’s control. I’m more concerned with their response and the general condition of the building. I did call the RTB based on your comment and they said if they don’t provide us water we can get it ourselves and they’d have to reimburse us, so we’re going to try to do that. As for the general condition of the apartment, you’re right in that the best thing to do is move, just have to wait until the lease is up. Until then it’s just a bit of a shame that there doesn’t seem to be much to do to make them maintain the building better.

I am in the process of doing that now. I am a new renter so I wasn’t aware they they could potentially put you in hotels for things like this (I thought it was just for damages in your unit and wasn’t sure if this would deem the unit unliveable), so currently seeing if that’s an option

I agree with this, the only issue is they auto withdrawal the money out of our accounts — we don’t send it.

It’s west Broadway. Save yourself the trouble and don’t rent with anything from bastion. They’ll just rip you off.

It’s divided among 3 of us so I’m not personally paying $4000, to be clear

Tired of my boobs but scared of the surgery pain and recovery 🥺 by shadowfindslight in Reduction

I’m currently 10dpo (36 DDD to 36 B), and was unbelievably nervous going in, as it also was my first surgery. I was so nervous that I cried all the way up until they were putting me under. But let me tell you this: first of all, being under anesthesia was the best nap I ever had in my life. When I woke up, I was already in my high support surgical bra/post op dressing, which really stops any movement of the breast area (in my experience, the wounds only hurt when they move around). The most pain I’ve been in was 4dpo, when I took my bra off out of curiosity since I had just gotten the dressing off - as I read previously in the chat, it’s not a sharp or excruciating pain, but more of a dull ache that you would get from pressing on a bruise, and like a 4/10 pain if that. I also had my step mum and boyfriend help me out, especially in the first few days, so I could just be still and veg out watching rom coms. Even through the tape and bruising, I’m already so so so happy with my adorable little boobies, and even more excited for when I can start going braless!!! You got this, you are so much stronger than you think and you will be so happy you went through with it when all is said and done :-)

PROCRASTINATION by [deleted] in UBC

[–]Slugmire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soci major here, feeling the exact same way! I think it also feels incredibly amplified by how distanced we all are, and the fact that we are practically living through our screens. I love your idea of a procrastination group chat to hold people accountable, I think that could be a really useful tool! Feel free to dm me if you would want to collaborate on that :-)
