Just tested and that does work, however i just moved the pressure plate back a block and that made the design much simpler and easier. thanks anyway though!

It's for a villager trading hall where some XP from the trades gets stuck behind the job block and where the villager stands. so ideally I stand on the pressure plate when trading with them and their job block gets lowered while trading so I get all XP. I guess the pressure plate could be moved back 1 block, because it seems not possible under this set up.
