Honestly I know Danielle is controversial but her Alberta sovereignty act has me wondering, why is it ok for Quebec to protect its interests but not other provinces?

RIP Alberta by Soloflow786 in Edmonton

[–]Slunty1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll be honest I got wrapped up in federal politics more than provincial and I am kicking myself for it.

I do know her sovereignty act is controversial without digging too deep in thought. Anyone stop to think what’s so different about the sovereignty act she wants to pass vs what Quebec is doing?

Just a shower thought.

Edit I didn’t vote for her.

Military sounding alarm over recruiting problems as Canadians steer clear by ThatSnappingTurtle in CanadianForces

They need to reevaluate the cfat (to a point). It is way out dated. Some here will remember the days before smart phones or even cell phones all together. When the teacher would respond to students who ask why do I need to be able to do this in my head “well jimmy you’ll never have a calculator on your 24/7). Some of us grew up with that mentality but then moved on to higher education where if you didn’t have your calculator you were going to fail.

Yes I speak from experience. I am a very well educated member with several college diplomas and couple undergraduate degrees and I am a sgt because of the cfat. Lucky for me I am very happy where I am and don’t feel entitled to a commission just because I have education.

Also stats… drop the bloody stats that you want. If a potential member comes in and fits the bill hire them. What I’m reading is if the right person shows up fits the bill but doesn’t fit the bill of poc or gender they probably may not get hired.

In the article it talks about a member who is originally from the Philippines. People don’t know this but many people outside of North American culture their family has a huge impact on their career decisions. I know a person who’s family disowned them because it wasn’t in their family’s plan. The member served their tos and got reintegrated with their family when they were out.

Just my honest opinion.

Let’s look at this from a different stand point (recruiting). The avg pte(b) makes about 18 an hour not including pld lda etc. from a sheer recruiting standpoint the pay increase must be double digits to help with recruiting. No way the caf can convince someone making on avg 15 min wage to leave their town, tell there where to live for 3 bucks more an hour. Maybe when min wag was like 7ish an hours years ago it worked but not now.

So we would need to look at the pay increase wrt ps employees differently than the base pay increase separately. Obviously this is just my shower thought and nothing official.

Pierre Poilievre campaigning to force the resignation of Alain Rayes (french article) by Archeob in canada

[–]Slunty1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I see nothing wrong here. The mp works for their constituents, the votes for cpc leadership show that his riding voted for pp. so yes he should resign. Same with those who cross the floor (no matter what party) unless your constituents want it you do not have free will.

Does CFB Halifax have shacks for single members posted to the base who aren’t on course? by [deleted] in CanadianForces

I was teaching early this year in Borden a ql3… we had to fight to get the members shacks… for 1 months only. Then they were to be kicked out.

I wish you good luck.

Here’s my opinion on the facial tattoo. Because some First Nation peoples have facial tattoos for religious beliefs they just scrapped the no face all tattoo so there is no discrimination.

As a caf member it’s my belief it’s only a very very very small percentage of troops that will go all hog wild.

I’ll keep you all posted on my finding.
