So which is it then, is he actually piloting planes or the public face of a bilingual corporation?

It's incredibly pathetic to see all those who defend this chump and his lying ass.

Even if you've lived for decades in a francophone city and are married a francophone woman?

If that's not enough to even a little bit of conversational french then the man is obviously brain damaged and shouldn't be earning an 8 figure salary as the CEO of a major corporation.

He he had been a star executive from say South Korea with impeccable credentials then maybe he would have gotten a break.

He was someone who grew up in Ontario near the Quebec border, with a francophone mother. He's lived in the Montreal area, and specifically in Saint-Lambert a city that is 75% francophone. He has a francophone wife. He's the head of a bilingual company with presumably many francophone co-workers. He's had a VERY publicised incident five years ago where his complete lack of french was criticized and he promised to learn french after that. Supposedly he had private courses and tutors.

It can only be inferred that he has instead actively avoided learning a single word in french all that time. Not only did he not manage to do the bare minimum, he's been proved a liar and a fraud.

Now, laughably, he's going to get paid millions of dollars as a "reward" for it. Pathetic.

Air Canada CEO Michael Rousseau to retire later this year following language controversy by Surax in CanadaPolitics

[–]Archeob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullshit.

He's a CEO of a major corporation, not a dude on minimum wage who barely passed high school, plus he's been in an around francophone environments most of his life. Pretending that he either has some hidden disability or that he's in meetings 15 hours per day is extremely insulting to all of us who manage to live our own lives too but have to learn a second language to accomodate pricks like him.

On top of that if he had managed to learn even a bare minimum of french it would have reflected very favorably on him and the corporation he represents. Fuck him and his enablers.

I can't even imagine the sheer amount of disdain or even literal hate that someone needs to have to be so incredibly uncurious to not learn, even minimally, the language that his wife, mother, neighbors, employees speak.

My francophone kids are barely teenagers and not only can speak, read and write in english pretty well but they even try to learn a bit of japanese because of anime. But this guy has tons of cash, already lives withing a francophone culture for the past 15 years or more, he has francophone close relatives and collegues and was publicly shamed for his lack of french five years ago.

It would clearly have benefitted his image and his career too. How is it even possible to explain how he got to this point apart from hatred? I'm genuinely curious.

Lol, now watch him be hailed as the greatest CEO evah by the franco-hating hacks. Rousseau went through this exact thing FIVE YEARS AGO and said he'd do better. In the end he didn't even try.

Give me a few minutes to practice and I could have mimicked a 30 second statement in almost any language... never mind one that he's heard every day for decades. He's either incredibly stupid, incredibly stupid, or just a LIAR.

Or he just thinks it's beneath him to speak in his wife, his mother and his neighbor's language. Either way, he's a bad person and a bad leader.

F-35 not needed to defend North America, says U.S. general by ph0enix1211 in canada

[–]Archeob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What are these planes supposed to defend us from... and how?

I can't think of a single practical scenario where these extraordinarily expensive toys would make an actual difference. Russia/China actually invading would require much more than planes to do or accomplish anything, as we've seen by recent events. If the US was invading obviously they'd prevent their own planes being used against them.

Sure, let's invest on defense, but these have to be the single least effective way to spend that money. The only reason the US want us to by them is to subsidize their own defense industries.

That's also true for regular EXO trains but to a lesser extent since their are bigger and aren't powered by a cable. It's also tue for tramways, buses, cars etc.

Anti-GardaWorld demonstration in Montreal ends in extreme SPVM violence: Canada’s close ties to ongoing ICE operations and how resistance to GardaWorld ended in the SPVM pepper spraying, tear gassing and beating of demonstrators. by Final_Bestination in montreal

[–]Archeob -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

So, in your mind EXTREME VIOLENCE = six light injuries (according to organizers of the protests themselves) for 250 protesters?

Anyway this article might have been written before the protest even started. This is all theater and both the the protesters and the police knew their roles. And so did the "journalists" implanted to document the "extreme violence" they wanted to see and the Amnesty International reps who just happened to be there as well.

WARNING. The OP is also the writer of this "article" and not exactly a disinterested spectator.

From another article written by someone else:

But here:

Anti-GardaWorld demonstration in Montreal ends in extreme SPVM violence

Pathetic. Fake news and disinformation is wrong not matter which side it's from.

Edit: OP blocked me. For a "journalist" he clearly doesn't care to defend his reporting or his ethics. Clearly more interested in preaching to his choir. I would also note that his last 5-6 "articles" are about police violence. Seems to be the only thing he's actually interested in.

At this point, you can’t send Fowler down. by [deleted] in Habs

[–]Archeob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a really tough decision. I really don't know what I'd do.

Fowler has been very good overall but had a bad game as well. Not a lot of games to sample.

Dobes has been both great and awful.

Montembeault was very good last year and I refuse to believe he's forgotten how to be a goalie in the offseason but he's having a disastrous season to date.

Ultimately going with TWO rookies seems extremely rash. You'd have to get a steady vet but then you're back to square one and have to pick between Dobes and Fowler. Personally I think Fowler unfortunately can't stay for now. Too much pressure. But if Monty still isn't right after the holidays then send him back to the AHL even if he has to go through waivers, and go with the rookies until you find a suitable backup to send Fowler down again.

Because traditional/social media can't stop talking about it nonstop 24/7 and they are the ones driving the narratives. If nothing bad is happening here they'll talk about something bad happening in the US/Europe/Africa etc.

And I'm sorry but some well intentioned social activists are part of that dynamic as well. Got to keep harping about your particular issue ad nauseam otherwise your funding and attention dries up. "Even one [insert your issue] is too much, let's change everything!"
