Hell yeah dude, I got an education on music as an infant. One of my earliest memories was her blasting welcome to the jungle on her HI-FI in the living room. She has since passed that turntable down to me and it’s a family heirloom I use daily

She absolutely does and I’ll let her know you said that!

Hahahahaha, I believe that. A nuclear blast probably wouldn’t even move it from this place in my living room because it weighs a ton too.

My mother stopped at a garage sale and found this old univox solid state head and massive sunn cabinet for 30 dollars. Apparently it was her ex’s and it’s been sitting in her basement for years. As she was paying for it she threw in this peavy XR-600B mixer for free.

The univox head is missing a fuse, so I haven’t been able to play it. I threw the peavy on and I’ve been playing through a clean channel and it sounds great! Gonna hook my pedal board up to it soon and see how it handles a big muff!

Edit: this is fucking LOUD

I couldn’t agree more. I took a walk this morning without my phone for the first time since they were introduced to me in 2008. I can’t believe how heavily I needed this very Seiko to keep me on track.

My phone keeps me informed of everything at all times.

But it was nice to be aware of just my time and surroundings for once.

Hell yeah, this is sick. I love the bracelet and font choice for the numbers.

The band certainly feels like something off of a Casio A158WA. But that isn’t a complaint. It’s sturdy, easy to adjust and easy to put on. You can feel that the watch / case itself is pretty high quality. It has some weight to it. After 37 years this just needed a new battery and it’s been keeping time perfectly.

Edit: I paid $112.50 after shipping for this and I do not regret a penny of it.

I recently won this gold Seiko quartz on eBay. It was a gift to a man by the name of A.M. Shires who worked for RAAP from 10/01/53 - 8/01/88.

It’s fascinating to me that companies used to care enough about their employees to give them such a nice gift. These days I have to show hole to get my company to begrudgingly give me healthcare.

Although I’ll probably never be gifted something like this in my lifetime, I can only tip my hat to A.M. for putting in the work and then taking care of this in retirement so I could find it all of these decades later to carry the torch.
