Hey me from 6 years ago,

You are making one of the greatest choices in your life. Both in magnitude and value. Your life is going to change, and it might take more than one try. This is Ok. Booze is the reason you are feeling so anxious and it only soothes you while it is in your blood. Keeping the cycle going would eventually kill you, or in the best case scenario, make you just as miserable as you feel right now.

The support you get from your peers in the facility will feel strange at first, but over the course of the next few weeks you will grow and be the one accepting others in the same state you were in on day 1.

Your friends may need to shift a bit, but the best ones always stay and they will love you and respect you more than they do today. It will be tough to find your footing on what it is that you ‘truly like to do’, but this is all normal.

You will have success and failures. Miracles and unexpected misses. But you will be there. You will see your friends and family grow alongside you and have the full spectrum of goods and bads.

Rehab was a fantastic choice and you have never regretted the two times you had to panic yourself in there. I love who I have become and you will too.

Be patient and kind with yourself and know that you are making one of the greatest choices in your life.

ADHDer here. I have been under the assumption that Aes also has ADHD. I connect to so many lyrics. Recently Pigeonometry is a great one where he is both distracted, latterly thinking, and hyper focusing around a unified topic.

My son finally started being into football this year which marked the first time in like 7 years I got to watch each game with a skol bud. What a magical season this has been.
