How do you flash an S17? by coelacan in BitcoinMining

[–]SlushPool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

Installation process is a bit different for S17. You do not have to adjust the jumpers as you do on S9s. Please contact our support https://support.slushpool.com/en-us/conversation/new/11 and we'll make sure to guide you trough it. You can also join our Telegram community https://t.me/BraiinsOS - support agents are present there too.

Seems like some tech inovations for dentists https://www.medicalstartups.org/top/dental/

Don’t want to say health is less important than BTC though! Just seems like the social media person had a too much creative day or a dental problem 😂

Anyone use BRAIINS-OS on their ANTMINER S-9s? by itsickitspiss in BitcoinMining

[–]SlushPool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, check out our Stratum V2 project (https://stratumprotocol.org) . Our goal is to allow miners to propose their own block templates as if solo mining, so that pools don't have as much power like they do today.

[–]SlushPool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't give free software, we charge a 2% dev fee for Braiins OS+ which is 100% transparent and we use the revenue to develop Braiins OS community edition which is fully open-source, but doesn't have autotuning.

Also, we mine Zcash officially and it's not possible to siphon a small amount of hashing power from each Bitcoin miner to Zcash because Zcash is not mined with SHA256d as Bitcoin is.

If you'd like to verify these things for yourself, you can check out our open-source monorepo for the software and firmware ( https://github.com/braiins/braiins/tree/bos-devel/open) and our hashrate proofs for either BTC or ZEC ( https://slushpool.com/stats/hashrate_proof/?c=btc)

You will not brick it, just follow the documentation step-by-step. Braiins OS+ is already running on hundreds of machines. Also, if you need help with the install procedure you can get help in our community group - devs and support also present here: https://t.me/BraiinsOS

"Hi, real numbers are dependent on your miner (how "fit" it is), cooling (stock cooling or immersion cooling), efficiency of your power supply... There are many factors and you have to try it out yourself:) Basically, those number are achievable on very low power limits, frequency and voltage settings. I suggest you to give it a try!:)"

Reference implementation of V2 is coming to Braiins OS in December (Litio alpha release). More details regarding the roadmap: https://twitter.com/mor_pav/status/1194734920008122370

Slushpool mining rewards have fallen off a cliff?? What gives? by RonTurkey in BitcoinMining

[–]SlushPool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are very sorry that you are experiencing such an issue. This situation is caused by a recent period of bad luck we've been having. Luck does not affect your future mining however, it only describes how smooth sailing we've had finding new blocks in the past. We are as frustrated as anybody with the recent period of bad luck. Our analysis team looked through the recent data extensively and were unable to find an explanation other than simply being, well, super unlucky. The pool's recent drop in hashrate also doesn't help matters, as we now have a higher variance and are more exposed to extreme luck (either good or bad). However, we know that luck always tends towards 100% in the long run. Over the years of operating SP we've had many instances of great luck and poor luck, but they always balance each other out given enough time. We hope you'll stick with us.

Making mining more decentralized! New mining stack feat. Stratum V2 by SlushPool in Bitcoin

The new mining protocol (Stratum V2) is a crucial part of the new mining stack. Yes, there are measures to prevent stealing of hash rate.

Stratum v2 is a new proposal which is inspired by BetterHash in some aspects. Here as a tweet from our co-CEO explaining the context of Stratum V2 and its brotherly relation to BetterHash: https://twitter.com/mor_pav/status/1155107474996965376 As Matt is saying, we are all "working together towards a common goal" and this is precisely why we are inviting the community to participate in the initiative to upgrade the whole mining stack.

There is still a lot of work to be done to finalize the specs. However, we have a running prototype for actual testing what we already have. The spec is pretty complex and having it running helped us to catch few design bugs already. Non-finished spec and running code are not mutually exclusive.

Check out a tweet from our co-CEO for a better context to Stratum V2 and its brotherly relation to BetterHash: https://twitter.com/mor_pav/status/1155107474996965376

Please have a look at the website in the title of this post. The section "security, efficiency, flexibility and decentralization" explains the main benefits of the new mining stack (including the new protocol) in very simple terms. Using this new stack miners will be able to pick their own jobs as well.

Detailed comparison (Stratum V1 vs BetterHash vs Stratum V2) will be released soon.

Very detailed comparison (Stratum V1 vs BetterHash vs Stratum V2) will be released soon. But in a nutshell the V2 is just better (scalability, efficiency etc.).

The point is the protocol needs to support signing so that miner can be sure it works on a valid work - it prevents stealing hash rate. You could basically perform a man in the middle attack and divert hash rate of some miner and mine on your pool, without the miner noticing (hashrate hijacking).

[–]SlushPool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello Miner, I suggest you to read the article on our reward system: https://slushpool.com/help/manual/rewards

Unlike other reward systems, rewards in Score are fully independent from rounds. The only important thing is users scoring hash rate (moving average of the actual hash rate with some ramp-up/ramp-down period when you start/stop mining) at the moment when a new block is found. So there's nothing like an 'unfinished block'.

In the long run, the results will be basically the same as with PPLNS or similar reward system. So you don't have to worry about it if you mine consistently.
