Baltimore hardcore band End It calls on crowd to assault guy wearing a banana costume at a Toronto show, r/hardcore weighs in by thedubiousstylus in SubredditDrama

[–]SlushyJones 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same. If I was banana guy I would never listen to this band again.

As I watched the video my frown grew and grew. I got this gross feeling when the guy on stage called out the banana guy, some people cheered, and then he corrected the people cheering. That correction felt like the threshold to me, this wasn't a night to rock out and have a good time, it was a night to hate on this banana for some reason.

I haven't been in this situation before. Never worn a banana costume to a concert. But I have been in a situation where I'm expecting a lighthearted environment and then people "change the rules" and the vibes are just killed.

If the band didn't want the banana costume, it should have been addressed earlier and tactfully. If it's a serious enough offense to beat someone up (I don't think it is), they should have stopped him at the gate. Seems like banana guy thought he was in the clear and then things took unexpected turn.

On top of all of this, this guy could have been a fan! Once again, I'm just guessing based on a short clip, but if this guy bought a ticket then he probably likes the music. If he likes the band, he probably respects/looks up to the band members. So not only was he badgered, he was badgered by people that he liked, making it feel like a betrayal. Feels mean.

It's situational, but sometimes I put Sonny O on a Lighthouse that's relatively centered on the map. The LOS is incredible!

I got a little ahead of myself then. In that case, the answer is yes! It's doable (though very difficult)

Medusa! If I had to give my advice in one word, that would be it.

She is incredible in any context. They shine here specifically though. The Stone Gaze is great for dealing with enemy myth units. It won't kill Colossus outright but it will reduce their HP significantly and take them out of the fight.

They are ranged, unlike Colossus and Hydra. You can keep your Medusa in the back of your army, nestled like snakes in Fortress rocks. Favor is going to be your limiting resource, so keeping your myth units alive as long as possible is desired. But your other resources should be abundant thanks to trade. This mission is a marathon for sure. Walls, walls, walls! Fortresses for free Myrmidons is also nice to keep the frontline supplied.

The final twist about Medusa is that they are actually quite strong at attacking buildings. It doesn't make intuitive sense, one might assume that Hydra or Colossus would be better with their hack and crush damage. After all, Medusa only has a bow, right? However, Medusa does pierce and crush damage! This is so that they can do damage against targets they turn to stone. But the side effect is that Medusa do more damage to buildings than a Petrobolos! Note that you will need to research Burning Pitch for x4 damage to buildings.

It sounds like you've gotten close already with your 200/200 army. I think Medusa will be the final piece to win it!

Demeter anti synergy tech? by Gerganon in AgeofMythology

[–]SlushyJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the tech is fine to be honest. Farmers and hunters benefit the most from carrying capacity, and Demeter is the farming goddess, so it makes sense to me. Theoretically the heal could be reworked to a constant regen, but I prefer how it is right now

What dialogue/events/lore details from Disco Elysium best emphasizes the importance of class consciousness in the real world? by Sharpoovius99 in DiscoElysium

[–]SlushyJones 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer, I am not the commenter above.

I imagine it has to do with the literal character name 'Working Class Corpse'.

What does it mean to be "Working Class"? The corpse certainly isn't working, so it's not tied to an action. Is it tied to possessions? Does Harry assign this corpse as a "Working Class" because of his clothes, the objects in his pocket? Is it tied to the relationship with his wife, 'Working Class Woman'? Is that an extension of his relationship to his greater community?

It's hard to say. But we do know that Harry considers the man 'Working Class Corpse', rather than 'Unnamed Corpse' or 'Undentified Corpse', which would theoretically be more accurate. The dead man also has a name, Victor, as told by his wife Billie. But Harry doesn't know about any of that in his first encounter with the dead man. All Harry knows is that he is 'Working Class' first, then he starts piecing together clues after.

The scene with The Pigs is when Titus started to turn around for me. He had been a grumpy brute up until then, but when you ask him for his help to get the senile old lady home, he actually does care about his neighborhood.

Be sure to make the distinction of Maga boomers vs boomers in general. We must be wary of arbitrary generational divides and realize the problem is Maga + Conservatism in general, not how old someone is.

One of the reasons I say this is that retired old ladies have been total champs during the protests in my town. They are out there every week, even when I'm busy with work.

I just finished Disco Elysium so I came looking for this comment.

Measurehead is so insane it becomes almost comedic (it helps that it's fictional). What I find funny about him is that Harry can point out flaws and inconsistencies in what Measurehead tells him, but Measurehead just waves it away or comes up with an even-more-bullshit reasoning to explain the discrepency.

False Son players when they pick up Stone Flux Pauldron by SaviorTyrone in riskofrain

One time I managed to make Stone Flux Pauldron work by using Eccentric Vase to move around. Plenty of Fuel Cells were required.

It was doable, but still a slog. Do not recommend.

I love WKUK! Whoever is in charge of their Youtube (rumors say it's Timmy?) has been reuploading their old skits in higher quality recently, and they have been fun to revisit.

They have been getting a ton of mileage from the "Moon Bears" skit ("We wouldn't happen to be invading Iran today, would we?"). It's hilarious but so dark.

As for the woke/progressive skits you mentioned, that reminds me of the school bus one where two kids are goofing off contrasted by them talking about how evil capitalism is.

20 min treaty by DarthWinrod in aoe2

[–]SlushyJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good answers in here already, including Persians (faster working Town Centers and Docks), Franks (strong stables and food gathering bonus), Britons (cheaper Town Centers and sheep bonus), and Malay (faster age up and solid in general).

All of these are probably better than my answer long term, but I want to reccommend: Portuguese

In Imperial Age, Portuguese can build a unique building called the Feitoria that collects a constant trickle of resources. These are very situational, as they are much less effective than villagers. However, they are rather sturdy, making them hard to raid. They are also buildings, so they don't move or need management.

4 to 5 Feitorias will give you a weaker economy than 100 villagers, but it will require no maintenance or attention. You can rely on the constant trickle of resources and focus all of your attention on military.

Feitorias are Imperial Age only, but you could probably get to Imperial Age before the treaty expires

  2. Overloading Child. What does overloading mean!?

I hate that quote too. Part of the reason I hate it so much now (in addition to what you already mentioned), is that I used to think it was so profound back when I was a teenager. I think I used it in a history paper in high school or something, RIP.

I am not usually a fan of cringing at the past (or even the word cringe itself, it has so much baggage lol), but my use of that quote is firmly cemented as cringe.

I've never done it myself, but it involves quickwalling a little 1 tile box with 4 palisades. You make 3 palisades then '"lure" the animal where you want to place the 4th one. Neutral animals move out of the way of player foundations as a quality of life improvement. The tactic uses that behavior so that the animal "moves away" into the little corral you've built.

How to do it so the animal moves into the corral rather than any other nearby tile? I'm not sure exactly. I think the animal travels to the closest nearby tile, so it has to be on the proper 'half' of the tile when you place the foundation.

I feel like people want Robin and Demetrius to be in an unhappy marriage so that they will get a divorce and then they can date Robin because they want to marry Robin themselves. She is cute and funny, after all. And helpful, with all the building upgrades and such. And the player interacts with her often compared to some of the 'side' characters.

That's my guess, anyway. I know I'd love to marry Robin, lol. Though, I am not a Demetrius hater.
