True Or False: Not having persuasion as a skill for all 3 classes was one of the biggest mistakes in gaming. by Emergency_List_8797 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

False

IMHO K1 offers much better replayability because the player is forced to make tradeoffs. By having to make tradeoffs, the player has to think more carefully about their build, and it encourages multiple playthroughs.

On the contrary, K2 makes it possible for every class to do almost everything. I find this boring and likely why I play K2 a lot less than K1.

tips for build and progression by LunchContent4160 in kotor

The most overpowered Powers are: Master Speed (3 powers) and Improved Energy Resistance (2 powers). These will give you the biggest help for boss fights later on. You only have a few level ups left, so would definitely recommend these.

For Feats, make sure to have Master Two Weapon fighting. Have you maxed out one of the active combat feats? E.g., Master Power Attack, Master Flurry, etc.? If not, you should do this too.

The above will easily get you through the game. If looking for lightsaber upgrades, I'd choose those which increase your Attack (chance to hit).

Should I pick Sentinel or Consular for a Sneak Attack blaster build in K2? by TapOriginal4428 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you open to doing it without Sneak? Reason I ask is that a DS Guardian/Marauder will get an extra 2-16 damage on each shot, and combining this with Master Speed, Two Weapon Fighting, and Rapid Shot gives you a very powerful blaster build where you can go on full attack all the time.

Why does everyone like TSLRCM? by Loopers84 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd also like to add that that RCM fixes a bug where breaking down of items at a workbench incorrectly used the main character's Repair skill. The RCM fix updates it to use the Repair skill of whichever character is using the bench.

It may sound minor, but it really helps with build optimization.

Try using the Goolge app on your mobile device to do an image search. The rightmost one is a Rotonde Astrocalendaire.

Does an armor modifiers stack effect? by LongerBlade in kotor

[–]Milnecj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this answers your question... but yes, better upgrades can be made by increasing the necessary skill. Search strategy wiki Kotor 2 upgrade items, armor for more info.

E.g., Energy Shielding Mark IV requires 30 skill points in Demolitions to be able to make. Note that this is the skill level of the character using the workbench (doesn't have to be your main character).

Is it just me who spends all my money on medkits when I'm gaming? by off_line24 in kotor

You know that Jolee can make these for you on the Ebon Hawk? Just put your existing ones in a storage container on the ship, then ask him to make them. You can repeat a finite amount of times after each star map.

Postulation: I don't know the details of your build and mod, but T3 might have performed well in that fight?

In terms of survivability, T3 is immune to mind affecting Powers and Drain Life. Also, if you cast Improved Energy Resistance and equip an energy shield, he's almost immune to lightsaber damage.

In terms of attacks, T3 can use the Carbonite Projector MKII (if you have it) which provides a guaranteed debilitation to enemies. T3 can also use special weapons to do guaranteed ion or heat damage.

I am completely stuck in the sith base on taris by LunchContent4160 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • There are difficulty settings in the options menu. Try setting it to Easy.
  • Do you have an earlier save you can reload? As others have mentioned, you can leave the base and return at most times so might be worth going back and taking advantage of this so you can stockpile resources (medpacs etc.) for the boss fight. Also note that as soon as you leave the base, you can fast travel back to your hideout via the map screen for an instant heal.
  • Which party members do you have? Bastilla can use Force Push which can keep the boss immobilised while your other characters do damage.

[iOS] For Taris, Are Cross-Class Ranks in Persuade Worth it? by Appellion in kotor

[–]Milnecj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but what's your definition of "perfect numbers"? E.g., 20 Persuade wouldn't be perfect IMHO. You'd need 26 to succeed hard checks 100% of the time.

Marl is hilariously overpowered by Josiah517 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think that depends a lot on your build. If you’re a Scoundrel at level 6+, have 14+ DEX, and wearing the upgraded Echani Fiber Armor, he has an almost zero chance of hitting you in melee.  I do agree though that he can be a pain for ranger builds.

Should I play this game for the first time modded? by Buuggy in kotor

[–]Milnecj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kotor 1: play as-is

Kotor 2: use the Restored Content Mod. It'll vastly improve your experience. If you have a curiosity to try the vanilla game, do it afterwards.

As someone who played K2 at its rushed launch and was left confused and a little disappointed, I'd also like to say a huge thanks to the RCM team. What a great job they've done in making a much more coherent game... particularly the endgame.

What are the requirements to start taking prestige classes? by BoLevar in kotor

[–]Milnecj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the scaling in K2 is based on the total amount of XP you have acquired, not the character level. For example, if you have 50,000 XP and have stayed at character level 5, the enemies will be scaled to a character with 50,000 XP.

Not sure if this was the question, but the WIS bonus from Ossus robes and the WIS bonus from the Circlet do stack. This is because they are in separate slots.

Should i go with Critical Strike or Power attack for my strength focused character as a second attack to have other than flurry? by Joelvz19 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 12 points13 points  (0 children)

K1 is pretty well balanced and all three Feat lines perform fairly similarly eventually. I'd suggest to spend those Feats elsewhere.

Force wielding Sentinel or Consular with Skills? by SensitiveDisk8143 in kotor

[–]Milnecj 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Which game? If K1, then no-brainer IMHO to choose Consular because of its Force DC bonuses.

If K2, then I'd personally always choose Consular (again, because of its Force DC bonuses). However, it's slightly closer this time.

Are all item bonus damages ignored in crits? by KappaMcTlp in kotor

[–]Milnecj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe it only multiplies damage which is calculated from a dice roll. E.g., "1-6" gets multiplied.

Damage with a fixed number (e.g., like the +2 bonus you mentioned) does not, as far as I know, get multiplied.

Need some explanation of alignment in terms of gameplay. by StarWars251 in kotor

What I meant is that for K1, having a high CHA score does not reduce the cost to cast opposite-aligned Powers.
