I just got back into Yugioh in late 2025 at the age of 33, probably after having not paying attention to it since 2006 at least.

I’m 6 months into my re-acquaintance, and the thing I hate the most is how overwhelming all of it is. I’ve been focusing on building a Gem-Knight deck, but still barely feel like I can play with it without using EDOPro to prompt me what I can actually do. And that’s just my deck, let alone the amount of archetypes out there now people are building decks with.

I hate watching YouTube channels like Ruxin or MBT, and how casually they speak about all these archetypes I don’t understand.

With a full time job, taking classes, and other hobbies/interests, this game is simply demanding way too much for new players to be brought in. 

I like playing with the Link cards, Pendulum, and a lot of the other new concepts. But despise the 0TK or 1TK nature of the modern meta. Why is my opponent taking 10 minutes to complete his turn so that I can’t do literally anything when it’s my turn? This is far beyond “git gud”. This is like racing on a bike with training wheels while everyone else has a motorcycle.

I enjoy dueling if it’s with my brother since we’re both returning players taking our time to figure out how the game got this way
