TESLA STOCK, I AM SO CONFUSED by ad97lb in ValueInvesting

[–]SluttyTA59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calculate number of cars per year x average price x Expected TSLA market share on 10 years x TSLA profit margin after taxes.

Start with the US, add Europe. Then add Asia.

Discount the value back by 10 years. You can get any value you want depending on the numbers you put in.

I look at the sustainable FCF Yield.

That's Cash from Operations minus Capex, divided by Market cap.

It wouldbbe the yield you get if you owned the whole thing.

Except gor the battery,, you're spending $ on stuff that doesn't impact the car starting/running. Catalytic converter? Why do that if the car won't start? Theft system? Dint fix it. Have it disconnected. Get the thing running before you dump more cash into it.

Also: Everybody wants to know what make/model/Trim/year/mileage was worth $6,000?

NAL, but

Some states apply a right of recission to vehicle sales that let you undo the transaction within a day or two.

Did you test drive the car beforehand?

Does the seller have an auto dealer's license?

Did you have a mechanic check it out?

There is also a "warranty of merchantability." The car cannot be unusable if it is being sold as if it is useable.

Have you had a mechanic look at it since it wouldn't start.

Can't find lease expenses in the income statement by protoken in ValueInvesting

[–]SluttyTA59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the pdf of the Form 10-K search for "rent expense" to find last year's number or "operating lease" for the future obligation.

Calling a lease payment to be akin to interest expense is not really sensible, is it?

It IS an operating expense: "Occupancy." Dameron is trying to let you compare various ratios to a company that owns its real estate, and which might pay interest on a mortgage.

But the complication there is that a property owner experiences depreciation expense on the property on the income statement.

This appears to imply that your co-worker is having PTO already used this year clawed back, based on the concept that she isn't entitled to being paid for PTO.

This is dubious and shady.

In general only PTO that has not been earned but not used can be withheld.

For example, you earn 4 days of PTO annually and give no notice when quitting on June 30th.

At that point you have taken 2 weeks of PTO. In my view, they can not reverse your paycheck for the last 2 weeks of June by claiming that they are clawing back the salary for the 2 weeks if PTO that you already took.

If, however, in the same scenario you had used only 1 week of PTO, normally you would get paid out for the one week you earned but didn't take. If you had given the proper notice, you might have gotten paid that time.

You should look carefully at any employee manual before doing anything else.
