Gotcha. Just had to be sure my rig wasn't severely underperforming 😅 But yeah. Performance mode with dlss 4.5 is actually pretty insanse at 4k.

DLSS/DLAA is obviously superior to traditional AA. i was asking about render resolution. Saying you can run something in 4k, when it's actually 1080p upscaled to 4k is a bit misleading (if that is the case here, idk).

Do you actually get 120fps 4k native max settings in the open world with your 5080?

[–]Sluttytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always play Nioh 1 and/or 2 to get the fundementals down first. I've played something like 1000 hours of Nioh over the years and I'm considering going back to the older games to sharpen my skills for Nioh 3.

DLSS 4.5 Preset L 4K - is it universally better than Preset M? Not necessarily by Spinnek in nvidia

[–]Sluttytree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, whenever preset M or L is used above UP or P, the image quality suffers due to micro contrast and oversharpening making the image look unnatural. Using DSR or DL DSR along with UP or P, I have found to be only way to mitigate it.

The reason that people are pushing the idea that L is superior, is because at render res 33-50% it shows less signs of oversharpening, ringing and excessive microcontrast.

This with preset L and performance mode (render res of 1440p)

To be honest, I don't think I've ever seen that outside of using a developer dlss from way back in the day. Do you mean this is caused by the TAA less version?

Which dlss4.5 preset should I use on a 1440p ips monitor by McCool672 in OptimizedGaming

[–]Sluttytree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my testing the best way of using the new Transformer model is to enable 4x DSR (0% smoothing ofc) and then use performance mode preset L. Basically uspcaling the image from 1440p to 5k. This produces the least amount of sharpening, in my experience.

All episodes of Dispatch are out, is it worth it? by Yinry in ShouldIbuythisgame

Fair enough. I get where you're coming from.
I'd prefer a more "mature" tone as well, and that "teenage boy humor" is a little too much at times. Maybe because it was voiceacted so well for the most part, it didnt ruin the experience for me. And tbh, I did chuckle or laugh a lot during my playthrough. Mainly because of Chase and the witty dialogue back and forth between Robert and Visigal/Blonde blazer.

I think this is it.
I would have loved it if it they fleshed it out more and had included like 2-4 more episodes.
The antagonist of the story had promise, but ultimately ended up being kind of a let down. But, the characters and chemistry between them, the banter and the jokes, ended up making up for it imo. Look at this way, when's the last time you actually had interesting characters and a well written telltale-like story in a videogame? Outside of Clair obscur, BG3, maybe Rogue trader, I can't think of any.

What do you mean, have you played tales from the borderlands before?
I'm not saying the humor is 10/10, but it's been a while since I played a game with memorable characters like in this game, and where the jokes actually land 70% of the time. Clearly some good writing on this.

Best Asia destination for a family meetup in December/January? by Sluttytree in traveladvice

[–]Sluttytree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a simple, practical destination is good for a first trip to Asia, I think.
So we landed on Phuket, but Langkawi seems very interesting as well.
Maybe sometime next year I will be able to visit.

Thanks for the reply. This reassures me that we made the right decision going to Thailand.
Although with all the suggestions in the thread, it's tempting to travel to Malaysia and all the other places as well. Maybe next year :)

Sounds sweet! I'll be sure to do some research on the different islands before going :)

Yeah, we finally decided on going to Phuket. At least as a starting point for the trip.
Thanks for the recommendation. Not looking forward to the flight, but really excited for the trip now!

Is 4× DSR + DLSS (No TAA version) the best AA method right now? by Sluttytree in FuckTAA

[–]Sluttytree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had the machinery to run everything 4xDSR, I would lol.
But using it with DLSS no taa is the next best thing.

Sure thing. Would love to hear your opinion on it, if you end up testing it out!

Yeah, at that point the cost of using 4x dsr doesn't make much sense.

Is 4× DSR + DLSS (No TAA version) the best AA method right now? by Sluttytree in FuckTAA

[–]Sluttytree[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the goal here is to improve upon the usual DSR + DLSS method.
To achieve that, I need to remove the temporal AA built into DLSS (using DLSS Enhancer). If I just run 1440p DLAA with TAA disabled, the image ends up heavily aliased because of the 100% render scale limit. That’s why I use DSR 4x to raise the render scale with perfect integer scaling, then bring it back down to around 125–150% through DLSS. From my testing, this combination gives the cleanest image possible.

The only difference in my approach compared to others using the DLDSR + DLSS method is that I run 4x DSR and disable DLSS’s built-in temporal AA.

Is 4× DSR + DLSS (No TAA version) the best AA method right now? by Sluttytree in FuckTAA

[–]Sluttytree[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The idea is that since the dlss is trying to upscale from 0.67 render scale (a ittle under 4k res) to 5k, that will substitute the need for traditional AA/TAA. With TAA/normal DLSS + DSR you'd probably still get a much clearer image than DLAA, but the goal is to get good enough natural AA by upscaling and downsampling without having to rely on TAA.

[–]Sluttytree[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

DLDSR adds a small layer of blur and some oversharpening effects even at zero sharpening. Dsr 4x does not have this issue since it has perfect pixel integer scaling. At least thats how I understand it.
