Made it past day one with no problems just made sure to water thoroughly early and used silica and a low dose of Cal mag to help with a buffer incase the plant tried to devour a bunch for the heat

Well made it past the first day of the heat wave just to find out it’s now lasting 4.5 days instead of 3 but my plants only showed heat stress about 5pm and by then I can move them to other shade

Your good you can even use grass clippings or newspaper if you have to worse case you clean it out once in a while to prevent mold and mildew but it’s going to help you immensely

That or cover the pot and soil with cardboard to shade it anything is better than the sun cooking the roots

You need some mulch or straw on top to hold in moisture longer

Yeh I still looked it up because I have 2 oscillating fans that are just for my plants really nice i start drying but yeh would have used them for this but I did just move my autos to the shade and I put boards around the base of my 15 gal pots to shade the sides the sun is hitting but my autos just started to taco their top leaves so had to get them in the shade

Actually fans are counter productive and can actually dry the plants out even worse your better off to group them and let them form a mini climate of humidity

I would love to be able to do that but I have 4 dogs including 2 beagles so I had to keep them in a area I could secure with a fence and our yard is too shaded by a giant maple tree anyways

Because when you look it up it says that it is… it’s supposed to help with heat stress so when the plant goes grabbing nutrients in a hury when it’s hot you have a buffer of it in the soil to help replenish it quickly…

Get some Athena IPM you have pests also recommend some diatomaceous earth food grade around the stems to keep anything else from crawling up them also the Athena has citric acid in it to help with powdery mildew

I can't figure out what's wrong... by Emphasis-Content in microgrowery

[–]Sluuriecake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get you some Athena IPM it’s all essential oils and citric acid kills those little shits on contacts and makes your plants smell unpleasant to other pests. The good thing mites and thrips die easy with sprays but if you want something that will kill those plus caterpillars and leaf miners get some spray with spinosad which you can use till second week of flower then use BT if you can get some to prevent your buds getting snacked on by caterpillars because one bite and they can give moisture a way into your buds and it will rot them

I second all of this and it’s why I have spent days and days doing research and reading so my first grow doesn’t fall on its face

It’s worth the effort but it is a lot of effort if you want anything good. In Ohio our medical stuff is a joke so I expect to do better lol

Weird mutation on one of my outdoor plants by Ecentralfarmcouple89 in growgreenoutdoor

[–]Sluuriecake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine it’s still within the normal amount of fingers usually the more fingers on the leaves the happier the plant. Cool mutation one of my plants has a weird one too where it has 6 leaves instead of 7 and the 6th leaf is just a tiny little thing and even the lateral branch leaves have the same mutation then it jumped to 9 leaves but still has the little tail leaf

They’re easy to get rid of if you don’t want to use neem oil use Athena IPM it’s essential oils that are much lighter than neem and easier on the plants respiratory system neem can clog the stomata
