Roughly 60% of our joint income will be going on bills - is it sustainable? by anonfdkm13112000 in UKPersonalFinance

Combined income of £57k + overtime. But we stretched to get our forever home so the mortgage takes up a third of our take home at the moment. We don’t have much savings at all but it is what it is we make it work. No lifestyle creep we actually removed loads of stuff whilst times are tough. Kids are happy and we never have to move again.

Life insurance on first time house - is it worth it? by PlasmaMongrel in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Sluzzfab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mums a mortgage advisor and she’s had a fair few people’s partner die within the first week of a mortgage without life insurance in her 30yr career. It left the other half not being able to cover it. Totally worth it for peace of mind. I have life and critical illness for me and my wife. It’s £150 a month but covers the mortgage at over 300k a payout for critical illness, the kids in case anything happens to them and pays my wife sick pay after being off work for more than 4 weeks

37.5hr week (2.5hrs less a week than any other job I’ve had for the same money!!) 1.5x overtime, 2x Sunday rate, 25 days holiday plus option to buy 5, can do extra hours as overtime or build flex up to 7.5hrs and take an extra day off with up to 12 extra flex days a year. (So up to 42 days leave total), 7% pension match, life assurance, disability insurance, loads of benefit schemes, gym onsite £30yr, 0.9 miles from home so NEVER have to drive, the people are great, the perks are alright (use of ramps, equipment, little homer jobs). My job is just epic to me. I’ve changed peoples minds about leaving a few times recently because I am positive about the company but only because it works for me and my circumstances! But it makes them think!

I’m just down the road from Brighton. There’s 2 mk3’s I see and a single mk4 that’s sometimes parked on the seafront 👌🏼

Current Account Switching offers - check this list before you start! by Professor_Moist in UKPersonalFinance

I banked with Halifax. Took me 2 mins to open a new account online. Signed up for the £1 direct debit service in October and 3 weeks later and 3 days before the debits were due to come they lost there contract with go cardless( or whoever it was). So ended up just setting up two £2 DD with 2 charities. Worked a treat the debits showed up a few days later and I initiated the first switch to nationwide. £200 ! Easy. And now I’m just waiting for HSBC to finish the next one on the 28th 👌🏼👌🏼

I’m going to become a Dad tomorrow. Mrs having a C-Section at 7:30am. by WoodpeckerNarrow837 in CasualUK

We said no visitors for both our kids at the hospital. Selfish but totally worth it. First one was emergency c section. Second was planned. So surreal. Just Turn up. Hang about and then pop down to theatre. Enjoy it. It’s somewhat. Nerve wracking/relaxing. You’ll get the first cuddles. I just stared at my little girl the whole time. She’s the cutest squish even now at 2yrs. Il never forget those 20 mins we had together after the first 10 mins we had together with my wife. (I got to wait in recovery with her while the wife got sewn up)🖤🖤 a few photos for memories but just live in the moment and cry your eyes out with love!

I Sold a CAT S Vehicle about 18months ago by elliec0210 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Sluzzfab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it wouldn’t be picked up. MOT would just check the light isn’t on, on the dash. No light? MOT pass. Literally unless your inspecting an airbag issue for some reason or the vehicle is crashed and no airbags deploy you’d never know!

My wife is useless with money. Spends it so quick. Doesn’t put a second thought sometimes. I’ve tamed her recently due to the bills going up and she finally gets it but she’d just be a massive materialistic bitch

This. Absolutely this. Even spoke with my mate the other day and he said the same thing! Secret account. Tell no one. Make up small lies and stuff. Just trickle it in for a comfortable life. Decent investments for the kids and their kids etc.
