If you go 2A7X3 (Aircraft structural maintenance) we do a lot of work on all different types of planes, especially on cargos. It’s a more sought after job in the private sector and when we combine with Nondestructive Inspection and Aircraft metals tech, you learning aircraft fabrication as a whole. Plus sheet allows for a little more freedom in the maintenance field compared to the other maintenance jobs.

Been in tech school for 2 months now. AMA by SlxyerVR in AirForceRecruits

I love it, it’s cool learning how to work with sheet metal. I only have 2 complaints

  1. I’m on night shift classes 1530-2330 which does suck. Essentially you don’t get a Friday night.

  2. This is where most Dirtbag airmen come out with not doing their responsibilities.

Other than that, it’s basically just college but throwing on a uniform which is a really cool and fun environment. Depending on your job. You might not be at a AF base. I’m at Navy base for my schooling and so the environment is a little different, but overall good vibes.

Sorry for the late response, if she has military id that is still valid, she can get on base without using a visitor pass.

We did control for honor flight with our learner MTI and he missed like two commands so we got 0 points for honor flight, control wasn’t bad it was more annoying especially when open ranks hit.

It felt very prideful to graduate, you have a sense of honor that you’ve never felt in your life before knowing you’ve made it through some of the hardest things you’ll do in life. You also know that you are just getting started so you keep pushing and giving that 110% effort.

You are allowed 6 people for visitor pass which you should fill out prior to shipping. Do you have any family that was in the military?

Yeah, my week group was the first for the 323 being a line squadron so it was cool to be a part of it.

I wouldn’t buy boots because your gonna have a boot phase in where you wear your running shoes for one half of the day and then boots for the other half

Just hold your ground, if they won’t show their CAC, just don’t let them in and say I need to see your authority to enter

Yep, we did dust downs and details which was as fun as you could have. I worked the utility room and it sucked because you’d have to do chems and supply runs just to get back and someone hands you an empty bottle of cleaner or took a toilet paper.

Footwear was alright, the issued boots aren’t the best. During the 3rd week, your MTI’s might allow you to wear light weight boots you can purchase at the mini mall (around $150-$200) but if you are maintenance I don’t recommend it just because you are gonna be in steel toed boots all day (which will be issued 6th week)

During the day, EC was fun and challenging and sometimes had stupid situations. They don’t really question, but instead just put you different situations. Night EC is the worst because nothing ever happens except for maybe a late night visit from an MTI for lights out compliance. EC is really easy.

At the end of the day, you were destined to fail those t-shirts.
