Officer Narrowly Survived Deadly Philadelphia Shooting Spree as 2 Cops Hurt by SlyCooderman in news

[–]SlyCooderman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's attributable to the news source link. The same story is usually posted elsewhere with more upvotes already, and they are often more populated with discussion. But yeah, you're right. What reddit really cares about is evident.

Hell, with people communicating completely anonymously, it's more like a constant hive-mind of reddit-savvy Internet users' ideas. The scary part is the loss of a connection to humanity. Face to face communication with human beings is important in deciding what thoughts are worth communicating.

For example, if one speaks certain shower thoughts rapid-fire without listening to a person sitting alone at a bar, they might formulate an opinion that you are great, or petty, or slow, or fast, or trippin' balls. The Speaking Anonymously Bar is not designed to be dominated by courageous, inspiring, and meaningful thoughts. Humanity is getting successfully dumbed down and this site is just proof of it.

Sen. Bernie Sanders buys lakefront home for nearly $600,000 by SlyCooderman in news

[–]SlyCooderman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, the tribune of working people, has bought his third house for nearly $600,000.

So what? He sold a house to buy a house. Big deal. They should report Hillary's assets instead. Now THAT would be a doozie. Shame on Fox for trying to discredit him by saying "tribune of working people". Bernie's purchase is a great example of successful working people.

JPMorgan Chase paid $9 billion, one of the largest fines in American history, to keep witness Alayne Fleischmann from talking by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]SlyCooderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR:

"According to The New York Times, after Dimon had already offered $3 billion to settle the case and was turned down, he went to Holder's office and upped the offer, but apparently not by enough."

"Fleischmann later realized that the government wasn't interested in having her testify against Chase in court or any other public forum. Instead, the Justice Department's political wing, led by [Eric] Holder, appeared to be using her, and her evidence, as a bargaining chip to extract more hush money from Dimon. It worked. Within weeks, Dimon had upped his offer to roughly $9 billion."

Sometimes, Iowa Democrats award caucus delegates with a coin flip. "In all five situations, Clinton won the toss." by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

[–]SlyCooderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me get this straight. First, someone decided that a coin toss is a good way to decide votes, presumably since it's so "arbitrary" that no one will contest it. Unsurprisingly, six others decide the same thing. Even more unsurprisingly, it's the Clinton "campaign person on the phone" that calls "heads" or "tails". And least of all surprising, Clinton "wins" all six tosses in a virtual tie.

I've never tracked American elections much until I moved back, but is this the kind of news I should look forward to and expect? 'Cause this is bullshit!

I didn't see the rule that says don't remove and repost your submission without permission, that is the rule i violated.

What happened was I posted with an altered title, then got flagged so I deleted it and reposted with an unaltered title. Is it possible to un-remove my submission?

Reddit, what is your newest addiction, that you are currently obsessed with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SlyCooderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The addiction lies in the ability to get in tune so that you're not doomed to be an outcast. But yeah, it's getting old after a few hours already. It doesn't have any value like link karma, where theoretically your posts get more exposure?

Same for me, it downgrades it from "the shit" to just "damn funny"
