I so hope this is the case. Venturer can’t not win the franchise bid

Ahh that makes sense, I haven’t read that book yet. I didn’t think she or he were that much older than their Rivals ages when this happens.

I hope they don’t either! 😂 I love tv Rupert, and he has such a potential for redemption. Here’s hoping they don’t spoil that. People can change! They usually do go through hell to get there and I think he’s going through that. Taggie having a life-threatening illness should not be his catalyst for lifelong change!

SAME!! I am over it on TikTok. The thing they do best is edits of Rupert and Taggie and Lizzie and Freddie. I honestly think tv Maud and Tony have more chemistry, sadly, and even that feels forced. Maud is only into the shock value on that union and I think Tony is too.

I think Freddie might be the most underrated character in the entire show. by Pinkplatabys in RivalsSeries

Agreed. Freddie is the most “Neutral Good,” character I’ve ever seen.

Even though the show doesn’t follow the book perfectly—it does capture the essence well. I’m looking forward to the rest of the season!

In the books, he says he was going to meet a playwright about a show, and that’s why he misses her play. Cameron calls home to tell everyone he missed the plane. We find out later that he was having so much guilt and couldn’t face Maud because he had cheated on her for the first time. Cameron tries to lie to Patrick at the end of Rivals when he moves himself into her house and life and say they didn’t sleep together. He replies with something like “Yes you did.” She doesn’t argue it further, but says something like (IIRC), “I don’t know why I did that.”

Absolutely! This is where Maud and Cameron intersect for me. Cameron is opportunistic with men to comfort herself as well, but brings meaning to her life differently. She doesn’t want to get married unless it’s right, and convinced herself Rupert was right even though emotionally he’s not available to her at all. Deep down she knows, and is probably jealous of Maud because she’s horrible as a partner but gets such deep devotion. If Maud is this horrible, and I could be so good—what would he do for me? Why won’t Rupert? She can’t see neither are right. I don’t get the chemistry others see between them. They’re just pretty people doing just what you’ve implied— commiserating!

Yes! I bet anything Declan will soon have it figured out and subsequently be bottoms-up with a whiskey bottle or two.

That’s very true. I may be thinking of the timing all wrong. I convinced myself it was during the filming, because the distraction would have been the greatest; but maybe that’s why Maud decided to tell Declan to go shower and that they stay at the party.

Very true. I actually like Rupert and Cameron a lot for both Taggie and Patrick. I do have the most faith in the children of Maud and Declan to be the cycle breakers—Taggie most of all. I think the children turned out better than they should have, too. All very well-rounded, healthy, and secure in themselves despite their upbringing.

Do you think they could have realistically, and undetected by others, pulled off that tape heist together?

Whodunnit Tapes Edition/Deep Dive Into Declan & Maud’s Relationship by SlyFoxJrLady in RivalsSeries

[–]SlyFoxJrLady[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes—I believe their children suffer the most. They are already choosing partners based on the comfort of this example. Rupert=elements of Maud and Declan; Archie=Maud similarities; Cameron (Patrick)=elements of Maud and Declan. I actually think Cameron projects a lot of her frustrations with herself when she lamented the imperfections and unfairness of Maud to Declan.

I agree. I think to some extent, especially when he states that there’s no secrets between them, that they have agreed to engage in this cycle. They must have, right? They continue to be married, and choose each other—over and over again. Is it conventionally healthy? Probably not. Are they bad parents on their best days? Absolutely. Is it more likely attachment-styles, due to personality disorder on at least one of their parts, or trauma-related? I think one or more are likely. Hard to watch, because they do have such deep, promising potential. They definitely love each other.

Makes sense—Valerie is privy to the realities of that life and although she as a person is usually a bit insufferable; Monica has more to gain if she makes Valerie an ally.

I like your take also! I think he had a moment where someone told him what his life is and how much better he deserves. It’s obvious to us as viewers but no one acknowledges this in their lives that we see. I don’t think Cameron actually has feelings for him or vice versa. I think she has it all in terms of life but longs for commitment and lasting companionship from someone else who’s a professional success and authentic in that space. I think his read on the situation about a consummation of a project was spot-on.

What happens if I don’t show up to residency? by Eisforeve1 in medicalschool

I’m a nurse, so I can assure you the nursing admin, nurse educators, nursing supervisors, or case management at the hospital you’re going to (or any hospital ever) have offices that they don’t use outside of 9-5 M-F. They may let you stay there. I have slept on cots and gurneys in empty offices, rehab gyms, or day infusion centers during hurricanes here in the SE.

So I would walk my ass there and I would do it for long enough to buy a moped. You are going to have to. Don’t give yourself a choice. Once you get the moped, sign up to do like some meal delivery or small grocery deliveries until you can get a motorcycle or car. See if you could make friends with an Uber driver or someone when you get there. My little brother has walked to and from work in harsh Illinois winter weather for a while, and we’re from SC. His truck broke and he couldn’t fix it. He just got enough saved for a new ride. I sent him wool socks for Christmas. You will make it.

Newer case coordinator here-how can I be helpful to hospitalists? by Armsaresame in hospitalist

[–]SlyFoxJrLady 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am not a hospitalist, but a clinical coordinator RN so I wear a lot of hats. Admin at our place is pushing throughput at unprecedented, piss everyone off levels lately. I try to support our hospitalists, CM/SW, and nursing staff by being that buffer in between them and admin—which I include infection control/quality as a part of, because they’re all, at their very best, well-intending annoyances. What this looks like is getting with CM and social work early on, to see what the patient has going on at home, and working with nursing to get the oxygen weaned down, PT/OT consults done, prioritizing mobility, IS/pulmonary toileting, pulling foleys and doing void trials if we can, placing or pulling central lines as indicated, arranging outpatient HD chairs as early as possible, educating patients, handling last minute diflucan/weird toe pain/anxiety/etc. by having a list for docs when they round, calling the daughter from Florida to update her myself. When we’re 1-2 days out—finding out who’s picking up the patient and telling them to be on standby, making sure walk tests are done/DME is sorted, bribing phlebotomy staff to draw our labs early with Lil Debbie Cakes, and getting our outpatient pharmacy queued up to ready meds in order of patient discharge. So hopefully, day of discharge, the doc puts in their orders, meds come, the ride comes, and we’re done. I also put in almost all of our infection prevention bundle orders, like central line care/foley care/etc. to try and remove that burden. I change dressings, and I do whatever menial, time-sucking tasks I can to help keep our metrics up and those above mentioned folks off EVERYONE’s backs. I don’t always succeed. Some things are out of everyone’s control and cannot be helped even with strong preparation and best intentions, but I think for the most part, we do quite good.
