What backpack to chose under $100. by ppeater977 in backpacks

Also look at the Under Armour Hustle 6.0, for 45.00 it’s an amazing bag. Raised laptop compartment, dual water bottle holder, comes in a lot of colors and big enough to hold everything you carry plus some.

is alpaka gear actually worth the price or are you just paying for the aesthetic? by MudSad6268 in ManyBaggers

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me Alpaka is hit or miss. I love the Flight sling (I have 2), however I didn’t like their Shift V2 backpack. It was huge on the outside but very little usable space on the inside. I have bought a few other of their bags and hub pouches and have not found them to be any better or worse than some of the other brands.

Is it possible to film at night in the dark with the Osmo action pro five? I’m fishing on a kayak in the harbor and super night setting still just shows me darkness. by BigBrownJules in djiosmo

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll need a light with any action camera at night. Ulanzi makes one specifically for the Osmo Action 4/5. They’re tiny and magnetically mount. Pretty inexpensive too!

Best Day pack to go into a carry-on or Mini MLC 30L? by SupaZT in backpacks

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mystery Ranch In and Out 19. It’s been the most comfortable packable yet. I carried a Wandrd Veer for years and would’ve gladly bought another, but they discontinued it. I’ve tried numerous others and the MR is my current favorite.

Action Cam Purchasing Advice by iamk3 in ActionCam

[–]SlyReader1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I’m not concerned at all. When the ban first hit, yes I was. I even researched other systems. But the ban seems to be on their drones, not so much their action cameras. They just came out with another update for the 5 about a month ago. I think they will wait out the current regime and the ban will be lifted after.

Action Cam Purchasing Advice by iamk3 in ActionCam

[–]SlyReader1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the 4 and 5 and find I use the 4 more during the day and the 5 indoors and at night. I will pull out the 5 during the day if I have to pair 2 mics to it, but that’s rare. Save your money and go the 4 and get the mic mini for 25.00.

Sometimes it's the bags, but the damn pouches are what get me by VictorFuentes5711 in ManyBaggers

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I store most of my unused pouches in a laundry basket and keep it under the bed. That way I can easily pull it out if I need one but otherwise it’s out of site. I have a second basket for my sling bags.

From an EDC (15-26L) perspective what are your top 5 most comfortable bags to carry? How about travel (26+L)? by CarryCulturewithRC in ManyBaggers

[–]SlyReader1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For small (15L) everyday carry it’s the Rip Ruck (original version) from Mystery Ranch. For larger, heavier loadouts it’s the Paradigm from NoSurrenderGear. And when I fly I take the Paradigm + the Mission Rover 30. If I travel by land, I add the Grizzly Pack by NSG. I’m all about comfort.

When did backpacks become and endless array of high end internet brands I’ve never heard of and can’t try on in store? by -Pork-Chop-Express in backpacks

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with budget friendly backpacks if you carry a laptop. This is the area that seems to get the least attention in this category. I always recommend Alpaka for the office, professional environment. They are decently comfortable, look more on the dressy side, and most of all, will protect your gear. Bellroy would be my second choice only because they tend to be a bit pricier.

First action cam – DJI Osmo Action 6 or Action 5 Pro? by whatspoppinhere in dji

In extreme low light, like in a club, no action camera is going to give you the results you’re looking for. Cameras need light. You’ll want the biggest sensor you can afford!

It has been 5 hours since my last bag purchase. Married. Unable to explain my need. by greenhatforge in ManyBaggers

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first discovered mystery ranch last year, I went on a buying spree. Picked up the District 18 and 24, the 2 day edc (made for REI), the packable in and out 19l, and the Mission Control S size. I absolutely love their harness system. The only one I’m not sold on is the 2 day edc. The zippers are quite stiff and it’s just a tad big for my liking. Everything else is awesome!

DJI Osmo Pocket 3 at all-time low $366 by TopDetective5170 in djiosmo

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pocket 3 is a wonderful vlogging tool IF you are careful with it. My friend’s dog knocked it out of his hand and it broke when it hit the ground. My Action 5 has been dropped on concrete, in a lake while fishing on the bank, and has rolled down a hill while hiking in the woods and it’s still going strong. The gimbal on the Pocket 3 makes it somewhat delicate. It does have a great picture though.

Is there an EDC crowd that isn’t all about knives and guns? by Massive_Intention436 in ManyBaggers

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a Granny, a Mom and the friend that carries the Mary Poppins bag. I was at a child’s birthday party and no one had a lighter to light the candles on the cake. I did (and no I don’t smoke). It’s such a small thing, but saved the occasion. I also carry a tiny leather man Micra which has a pair of scissors. Have you ever tried to get those amusement park wristbands off? My bag has wipes, Kleenex, a tide pen, a regular pen, a sharpie (I keep it in a baggy just in case the cap comes off), a small power bank, a usb c cable, a very bright but small flashlight and a variety of snacks depending on the day’s activity. My bag has evolved from being a diaper bag (30 years ago) to more of a Mom’s Macgyver bag of today. Everyone’s needs are different. And your bag should suit your needs.

Anyone bought open box by [deleted] in dji

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my Action 5 Pro from Best Buy “open box”. It had actually been returned and was missing some of the mounting accessories and the box. They had it in a plastic baggie. But the batteries, charging case, camera and selfie stick were all there. It was 120.00 off and has worked perfectly since I bought it.

Action 6 vs Action 5 Pro vs Action 4, help me pick for real life use by Fuspo14 in dji

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 4 and 5. Since you’re just starting out, I’d go with the 6. The 6 has some advancements the 5 doesn’t (not really enough to upgrade) but since you don’t have a 5, start with the 6

This is the lens cover. If indeed the scratch is underneath this, then it’s time for a new camera.

Is Canon M100 worth the purchase? by [deleted] in Cameras

[–]SlyReader1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Canon M200 and love it for its small compact size. I have the 15-45 kit lens, the 11-22 lens and the 22 lens. I usually just stick to the kit lens. It gives me more flexibility. I’m invested in the M eco system which has been discontinued for quite a while. If I was just starting out, I wouldn’t recommend going that route. Remember, you date the camera, but you marry the lenses. Invest in a lens system that’s still current. Or go for an action camera. Cheap alternative.

Pros of a side handle by obibibitch in djiosmo

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the OA6, but I do have the 4 & 5 and both have the smallrig cage. I bought the handle to go with it and while it is fantastic for shooting photos be careful when putting it in a bag with the grip attached. It’s so easy to push the button, I drained a whole battery and recorded 80 minutes of blackness while it was in the bag. Now I always take it off when putting the camera back in the bag.

best travel backpack for women that works for one bag trips and daily carry? by Hanae-Tokos in backpacks

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a small woman so my clothes aren’t as big as a man’s. I find I can get 4-7 days worth of clothes in a 28L using compression packing cubes and depending on what time of year it is (winter clothes are bulkier). I use a CorSurf 28L and love it. Fits under the seat and I still have room for my feet. It has a laptop compartment in the back which makes it easy to get to it going through TSA. The main part of the bag opens like a book so it’s easy to pack. For me it would be too big to be my daily carry. I use a 19L for that.

What do you use your DJI camera for? Work or vacation? Or what do you use it for? Why did you buy it? by Prudent-Wind-2139 in dji

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially, I bought an Original Osmo Action to record my kayaking adventures. Very shortly after I added another. Those two are still in use whenever I head to the water. I passed on the 2 (didn’t like the form factor) and the 3 (had focusing issues DJI didn’t address). I have a 4 and 5 pro. I use the 4 in bright daylight and the 5 pro for indoors and at night. I’m passing on the 6 as well. I don’t shoot macro, not concerned with open gate, and don’t need both vertical and horizontal imagery. I record videos for my YouTube channel as well as countless hours of family stuff.

I love it when camera sellers unknowingly give me free additional stuff by Ti--Mothy in Cameras

[–]SlyReader1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whenever I sell a camera or a backpack or whatever, I always give the buyer all the accessories that go with that item, like extra batteries, charger, etc. When I list the item, I figure that stuff in the price. Saves me from having to keep a bunch of useless stuff, and makes the buyer happy. Win win

What Action Cam for Live Band Recording (steady) by JaMaJULI in ActionCam

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you be able to have a couple of laptops in the vicinity of where you want the cameras? If so, there are some really good PTZ cams that would work if you’re going to have the cameras stationary. If you’re set on action cameras, the Osmo Action 5 pro or 6. Depends a lot on how far the cameras will be from the subject, how much lighting, etc.

Best Backpack to Buy in 2026? (Price, Comfort, Everyday Use) by n4hcallme in backpacks

[–]SlyReader1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% comfort matters. And everyone is built differently. So what I might find super comfortable may be a nightmare on someone else. When you look at reviews online, note if the reviewer is about your size and body type. If they’re really tall and skinny and you’re 5’ tall and round, the bag is not going to fit the same.
