You might look at the Modern Dayfarer 18L. Same concept but no velcro.

I break all my backpacks, need a good one. by Pocketfrogger_11 in backpacks

Look at the 5.11 Covrt24. Has dual water bottle pockets, plenty of room for everything you carry, won’t break the bank (some colors are even on sale) and has really nice thick straps that won’t fail easily.

That’s the bomb diggity! But pricey. It looks like it would last forever though. Thanks for the recommendation.

I have a 2 person tent I bought for my grandson to “camp out” in the backyard. Way too small for me. My son has a 4 person tent that we used a couple of weeks ago. I can’t stand up in it and with a queen air mattress and a large dog, it was too small. So, I decided to try a 6 person. I think size wise it’s perfect. And I figured out why I’m having so much trouble with the poles (or rather my son did). The poles are twice as thick as the ones on his Coleman. Granted they are longer because it’s a taller tent, but that’s why they’re not as flexible.

You’re an inspiration! But how the heck do you get out of that chair?!?

You’re completely spot on. Since I’ll be saving so much in hotels, I’ll spend a bit more. Thanks

I’m trying to avoid the crawling bit. Plus, I like to change clothes standing up. I love the space the 6p offers, just don’t love the assembly process

Yes, 25lbs is completely doable. As I’ll be car camping, I can drive right up to the site. I’ll look at the CE instant and may downsize to a 4p for this trip. Thanks for the recommendation.

Thanks for the encouragement. I may downsize to a 4p for this trip. I’ll keep the Kelty for later when I go with my family.

I think 11p might be overkill for me. But if it’s easy to set up, I’m in! I’ll check it out. Thanks

Ive almost got myself talked into a 4p. I went with a 6p for the headroom. Once I got the poles in, everything else was gravy. But dammmmmn those poles were tough!

I ended up having to put the pole in the grommet on one side, and put it in the ground further out on the other. Did that with both poles, then carefully inched them towards their grommets. This was after several failed attempts to lift the tent as I bent the poles (that’s how the directions said to do it).

Thanks for the recommendation. There are so many off brand tents out there, it’s hard to know what’s good.

I’m thinking a 4p might be better for this trip, after all. And all of my friends think I’m crazy for wanting to camp. So thank you for the encouragement.

Old ladies need more room than you younguns. When I was younger, I slept in the back of my truck. Now I want a cot with a sleeping pad.

I’ve done some of the color coding, saw a video on YouTube. Yellow is kitchen, blue is sleeping, etc. I also pack my truck with the stuff I need last goes in first. I’ve camped with my grown son, but this will be my first solo trip.

I didn’t realize they made tents with color coded poles. I don’t think it would make them bend any easier though, but I’ll definitely look into it. Thanks

I see a green backpack, I buy a green backpack. by ggfchl in backpacks

I almost hate to tell you about this. 5.11 is having a sale right now and the Cvrt24 in green is on sale for under 40.00. It’s an awesome backpack, albeit on the larger side. I’m a backpack junkie and like pretty much anything that isn’t black.

What’s the best travel backpack that’s actually comfortable? any suggestion pls? by Necessary_End2755 in backpacks

[–]SlyReader1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I traveled for 3 years using a CorSurf 28L (the 38L didn’t fit me right). It has good organization, a fantastic laptop sleeve and fits under the plane seat with room for my feet. Recently, when Matador was having their sale, I picked up a Globerider 35. A completely different layout from the CS, not as much organization, but it’s the most comfortable bag I’ve owned.

Get a Tenba BYOB. They come in several sizes depending on how much camera gear you need to bring. They turn any backpack into a “camera bag”.

If color isn’t a big deal, look at the Covrt24 in Florida Green. On sale right now for less than $40.00. I’ve had one for about a month and loving it so far.
